I have had a heck of a time finding 38 S&W brass. I found that Starline is accepting back orders for this brass. For 500 its 112 or 41 cents a round. Not good but try to find it. My question is, has anyone ever done a Starline back order? If so how long in general does it take for them to fill these orders? Thanks for any help.

I ordered 500 pieces of .357 mag brass from them on backorder and received them within a couple weeks. I think their definition of backorder is more like "we don't have enough in stock to fill all the orders e think we'll get but we're making more every day," whereas for other merchants backorder means "we don't have it now but we'll take your money and send you the product when we happen to get it."

Most folks around here speak highly of Starline's record of shipping backordered merchandise fairly quickly.

In the last year I've used Starlines backorder system twice, about 2 weeks, great service and product for that matter. .357 for one order and I think .45 LC for the other. Not positive on the last caliber.

Uhhhh, 500 for 112.00 is .22 ea. Which is darn good. Most of the time things listed for backorder ship in 2 weeks or so, sometimes longer, sometimes quicker.

From what I have received from Starline; accepting backorder means "scheduled for production in 2 weeks." By accepting backorder they can adjust the production schedule up or down and keep empty shelves to a minimum.

Starline is the ONLY backorder I have confidence in ordering.

I ordered some 350 Legend from them and it took 2-3 months. That's been a couple of years ago.

Starline is a great company, reputable and friendly. Backorder is an odd term; it doesn't really reflect the usual understand of "not in stock but on order from our supplier." Supplier? That would be Starline themselves. As others have said, it will show up fairly quickly. Even if a product isn't "backorderable" it's worth a call to them. I was looking for .45 Auto Rim and their site showed it wasn't available for backorder. I called and a nice lady said they'd be making some soon, would I like to make an order? I did, it shipped in about three weeks just like she said it would and they didn't charge my card until it shipped. Doesn't get any better than that! She was pleasant to talk with and they do business "the old fashioned way." As I said they're a great company!

I have back ordered .32 H&R, .41 Mag, .357 Mag and .44 Spl. Only the .44 Spl took a while. After a couple of months of waiting, Starline called me to be sure I still wanted them. I said yes, they were here in three days.

I still have 500 new .32 H&R’s in the box as spares.

Stay safe.

Been a couple of years but back ordered 1K .44 Mag. Got here in what seemed normal shipping time. About a week.

For popular cartridges that go up for "backorder" sale they ship pretty quickly. These are your .223 rem, 5.56" NATO, .308 Win, 45-70 gov, 30-30 in rifle and stuff like 357 Mag, 38 Spl, 44 Mag, etc in pistol.

But less popular cartridges may not be the case. I know some folks that are 3-4 months into waiting for the 45 Raptor brass right now.

If you're worried give them a call and just ask how long they expect backorders on 38 S&W to ship. They're super nice on the phone. If they're actively making it and receiving lots of orders it could be pretty fast, within 2 weeks like most above have reported (I've experienced this myself with most of the cartridges I listed above) but if they're just stacking backorders until they have enough to make a run and switch tooling over it could be a while.

Same story are the others, have never had an order take over 2 weeks, good company. If you buy Starline through Midway or similar backordered it will add time. I just go straight to the website for brass anymore, save the searching time.

I ordered some 357sig brass from them a couple of years ago when all this craziness was happening. I was in no hurry knowing it was not a popular item. Took 6 mo to get. They called me needing CC info since their system purges data after 1 month. I know this was going to be a wait when I ordered. The common brass like 357mag took less than a week to get.

I just got 200 cases of 45 Colt and the Starline bags had date stamps on them that were less than a week old. I'd have to look up the vendor but the price was cheaper when including shipping, than it was directly from Starline.

I am still waiting on the bullet order from Missouri Bullet co. They said end of last week or first of this week they will be making this cal. I hope so.
