What states wave NICS checks for CCW holders?
Can you site song and verse in state law that allows this?

In Pa this was once done but was changed, I have the ear of a State rep. and would like to push the idea any help would be appriciated.

Washington state does NOT, but then, I have never waited more than about five minutes to be okayed by NICS for a firearm purchase from the time the dealer dials ...

I suspect that in some states you may have trouble getting this concept pushed if the law enforcement agencies and states AG's office believe that there could be a time lag between an offense/conviction that would result in CHL/CPL revocation, where the reporting to the databases NICS taps would be much faster -- in other words, is it possible there could be a window between offense/conviction/event (that would get a CHL/CPL revoked) and the time the issuing agency revokes the license where the holder could still purchase a firearm, whereas, that offense/conviction would have already been reported and would otherwise reflect on an NICS check?

SC waives it, but the FN plant called NICS anyway just to be "extra sure" or something.

Does everyone in Alaska now have to go through the NICS check since they're Vermont style now?

Not if you have a permit. They are still issued and still good for some things. Like no NICS and out-of-state reciprocity. :D

Walk-in, walk-out, no muss, no fuss, no worries.

Michigan waives it

But you still ahve to take it to the police for a "safety inspection"

Sounds better than gun registration doesn't it???

Obiwan,

So if it has a catastrophic failure and you are injured, can you include the state of Michigan and the city or county of the LE office in your suit for damages?

After all, they confirmed it was safe as purchased.

They want the privilege of "inspecting" they should bear the responsibility for failing at their job.

SD used to before NICS went online. However, I noticed the other day that Packing.org specifically states that SD's CCP does not preclude a NICS check.

Idaho waives it. I won't quote the law, just my personal experience. When I buy a gun, they write my CCW license number in the NICS check confirmation box, and away I go.

Michigan

I have purchased several guns, and handguns with my CPL,and A NICS was conducted each and every time.. :(

If you have a "Purchase Permit" for handguns, the check is not done..

I have bought from different dealers and they all made the call..

The safeguard against that in Texas is that the minute you are charged with
a crime your CCL is automatically suspended. The system is set up so that
when your name and DL# are entered, it will flag if you have a CCL.

I would imagine every DA in the state has a system set up to relieve a CCL holder of his or her "license, proper", as soon as charges are filed.

Attached table of states qualifying permit holders instead of running NCIS checks.

How is this a safeguard? When you buy a gun using your CHL they don't enter any information anywhere, you fill out the 4473, pay for your purchase, then leave the store with it.
