I was reading this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22474944/
It basically states that Ca. is suing the Fed. Gov. because the new fed greenhouse regulations are less stringent than the states regs. If Ca. loses would this work as a precedent to get rid of state gun laws like California's "list" guns, mag disconnects, spent shell casings (NY), test guns etc.?

State vs Fed is an interesting conundrum. It really depends largely on who backs down first.

It may become a very pertinent issue in the near future, especially with Montana (and many other states) refusing to enact that RealID crap. The biggest practical consideration is that the feds can withhold many types of funding from the disobedient state, however, the disobedient state might also try withholding taxes from the fed (issue a mandate that all employers in the state stop taking out federal taxes from their employees' pay checks, things of that sort).

In short, a real legal battle could escalate to some really ugly problems.
