I been looking at alot of pistol lately and i send alot of polymer frame pistol out there. What is some good steel frame one I see very few steel frame at all and when i do it large size and I just been wondering who made the steel frame pistol I know the 1911 like Kimber and remington r1 but what are some of the others. I finally made the decision to buy a bersa 380 thunder I found one right in my price range and I really like the feel of it and now 380 is easy and cheap to find here. Thanks

Browning Hi Power, CZ makes several. There are also alloy framed guns (aluminum) made by Beretta, Sig, and others.

The second most prolific all steel handgun in the us is going to be the 2nd and 3rd Gen S&W. Available in stainless and carbon steel,9mm, 40 S&W, 10mm and 45ACP. Single or double stack. Fixed or adjustable sight. Single action, traditional double action or double action only. Full size and compact. Prices are nice too. Law enforcement trade ins can be had for the 3-350 range.

FEG true Hi Power clone, PJK-9HP, in 9mm. Paid $366 for this one 6 months ago. Other than having a stiff trigger and safety switch, it is a great shooting gun and has been 100% reliable for me thus far.

Another fun steel frame gun for under $300 is the Vz.82 (more commonly called the CZ-82) in 9x18. I think I paid $230 for this one a few years ago. Like the Hi Power, it feels superb in the hand and has been totally reliable.

Cz 82 is the gun been looking and looking for I cant find one anywhere no website has it nor any gun shop I know of around here. I looked at the FEG and I wasnt sure about it I never heard of it. I like the beretta 92fs but there so big I would think it be hard to conceal it.
I looked at a beretta cougar today thought the cougar was made by stoeger i know it own by beretta.

The FEG Hungarian Hi Powers are typically not quite as nicely finished as an FN, but they seem to be every bit as functional. And they cost about half as much!

Just be aware that some FEGs might look like a Hi Power at first glance, and they might even be called a Hi Power clone by the seller, but there are some FEGs that are based to an extent on the S&W Model 59.

Post #3 at the link below goes into some good detail on this:

Later posts add good info as well, I recommend researching before you go buy an FEG "Hi Power" that isn't really a Hi Power clone.

There are a lot of surplus Star Super B's for sale right now.

It is a steel pistol that looks quite a bit like a 1911, but no grip safety and it's 9mm parabellum.

I paid $239 for mine from AIM Surplus online. CDI Sales has a bunch on Gunbroker, and there are many other sources.

The Bersa Thunder 380 has a steel slide, but the frame is aluminum. Great gun, though; I have one.

My all-steel gun that gets carried the most (I usually carry a Kel-Tec PF9) is a Bulgarian Makarov in 9x18mm. Excellent hunk of Red-Army steel.

Besides most of my 1911s (Colt Government, Colt Combat Commander, and Springfield Armory M1911A1), one of my all-time favorite all steel pistols is the Browning Hi-Power.

I've kinda ''re-discovered" all-steel pistols again in the past couple years, even ditching my Glocks to get into some. Some good ones that don't break the bank (though they seem to be seeing a new surge in demand) are the gen3 S&W's. These are by nearly all accounts fantastic pistols, that are built like tanks and eat everything (often called "boringly reliable'). Unfortunately, the days of the $250 police trade-ins seem to have passed, but you can sometimes still find some nice ones around $400 on the classified sites.
For current production all-steel pistols, I think the CZ's are among the best things going, and I often see near-new ones on the used market running around $475.
Everytime I see a nice Hi-power on the classified sites, I kick myself for not getting one back in the 80's when they littered the counters and tables at gunshows and shops. But sadly, I can't swing the bucks for what they usually go for these days.
For 1911's/ .45's take a look at the the Springfields. They are widely considered among the best deals around in a 1911, use forged steel frames, rather than the cast frames of some others, have a stellar customer service, and can often be found fairly reasonably on the used markets.

.380 currently costs as much or more than 9x19mm, and doesn't perform as well for self defense. In between is the 9mm Makarov.

In compact sizes 9mm, look for the CZ75 compact ~($500) and its clones and knockoffs, like the Canik model, which is around $325. Also look for 2nd and 3rd Gen SW steel pistols from the 1990s for around $400. These are excellent. Star 9x19 pistols - the Star BM - are around $300 or so and slim single stacks and feel great in the hand. CZ999 - A Serbian Sig Sauer knockoff by Zastava - in all metal for under $300 at Aimsurplus. Gets great reviews.

I agree that the CZ82 (in 9mm Makarov) or CZ83 (in .380) are very ergonomic and the controls and trigger are superb. Right around $300 or so.
