I am inheriting my dads shotgun: just can't shoot it anymore.

It is not the newer with the vent rib or the choke tubes. But it does accept 3" shells.

Will it shoot steel? That is the question!

I would not shoot steel in a full choke gun.

Yeah, depends on the choke. Any markings anywhere at all on the barrel? Stars, words, anything?

In another part of the barrel:
Also,'circle' SP1
Another 'circle' around a 99
Then a '7'
These were all in a row on top of the barrel.

My dad just told me he probably bought it mid '70's.
The serial number is D325xxx.

Thanks guys. Any info you have is great. IDK when they started making steel proof barrels... I do know that I want to get to a free state so I don't need to worry about it!

Mid 70s should be good enough metal to handle it. Can you measure it with calipers? Some older full chokes are extra tight. Eventually steel shot may wear it more open.
