No frills Savage

Same gun, but without the Accutrigger from what I understand. Not pretty, but Stevens shoot really well and are worth the money without question. Chances are they will outshoot most other offerings on the market.

I don't think you can go wrong

with the Savage, uh I mean Stevens. The stevens is the bare bones Savage without the Accu-trigger. If it has the old style savage trigger on it, and I believe it does, it is still adjustable to about 3 lbs. If you felt it neccesary to replace the trigger later, and I see no reason to myself, you can get an after market for about $70. I have 6 Savage rifles and they are all great shooters, 4 of them have the old style triggers. If you don't mind a blued gun with a plastic stock, you should be very happy with the Stevens.

I've got an older pre-accutrigger Savage M110 in 7 mag. It's ugly, but it works. I put a free floaded Ramline stock on it and it shots 1MOA with its favorite loads, no target gun, but good nuf for gov'ment work or hunting. It's a good choice for a no frills accurate hunting rifle. Ain't got no hinged floor plate, ain't to purty, but gets the job done. Mine brakes clean at 3 lbs, as low as I wanna go for a hunting rifle. I don't want the trigger breaking when I'm stuffing my gloved finger into the trigger guard. I want it to break when I'm putting pressure on it. 3-5 lbs is a good weight for a hunting trigger. Forget that bench rest 1/4 ounce BS.

have a stevens in 223. Outstanding gun with the 70.00 timney I added. With handleloads it will outshoot me. Plus it's so cheap I didn't worry about screwing up the paint job I did in alumahydeII.

I shot my first stenvens last weekend. A guy at work bought one in .308. The trigger was not the best but it shot pretty darn good.

My crop of savages are all pre accuratrigger. I like the Timney for sporters and the Sharpshooter supply for the heavy barreled ones. The stock trigger can be adjusted and improved. Must be detailed instructions aa over the net. Essex

I got one in 7mm-08, repainted the stock to hide the slight Rem710 appearance (blued w/cheap looking grey stock). Shoots really well with low-end factory fodder, 140gr PMC's, average of 1.2" @100yds. Have some handloads built up to try if the wind would just go away.. been gusting to 30-35 mph here last few weekends. For the money, about $425 w/Nikon ProStaff scope, it makes a good package for the guy looking for utility vs. pretty.

I have a Stevens 200 in .308. I bought it just for deer hunting (since I now live in a state that allows rifle hunting). I wanted something inexpensive to carry into the woods and not worry about. I put a Bushnell scope on and it shoots around 1.5 moa.

This season I shot a deer at about 175 yds with one shot. It was so easy I felt like I was cheating.

From my experience the Stevens 200 is alot a gun for little money.

I shot two deer with my .308 this last season. It isn’t pretty but it shoots great. You will probably want to put a recoil pad on it though. The Pachmayr model made to fit the synthetic stock Savage 110 will fit the 200. I liked the .308 so well that I’m going to pick one up in .223 tomorrow.

Stevens 200

I have a Savage 10FP, 223, and bought a Stevens 200, also 223, for a knock about rifle. Later I found a like new factory stock to put on it and am very pleased with it.

I am planing on getting another later.
