I have a Stevens m620 "Riot" gun. My understanding is that it was used by the Military Police
guarding POW's during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. My Br-in-Law brought this one home with
him when he returned from Korea in the 50's. How he got it, I don't know. I inherited it when he
died. As you can see it has the US & 4 stamp on the rcvr. Great little shotgun. Shoots as well as
any new model Self Defense shotgun.

It's a general and understood oversimplification to view riots as non-combat guns. We would never take a trench if a riot was on the rack too. All of our riots had sling swivels and we never carried bayonets for the rifles let alone shotguns. I know many (most?) did but myself and those like me left a trench every time for a riot.

So, no telling really what a gun's past is and never exclude a possibility for the lack of a heat-shield and bayonet lug.;)

Todd.

There are actually lots of 520/620 parts available. I built the whole second “trench gun” barrel assembly from parts from eBay and GB.
Good to know. But I'm shotgun poor anyway; three 870's, 4 Mossbergs, 2 Weatherby's, several old single shot Stevens, H&R, a Rossi,
2 O/U and 1 SxS. My favorite is a an old Savage 24-P in .22 Mag over a 20ga. Anyway, I see no need to chance breaking a gun with
a history with so many others to choose from.

I have owned a Stevens riot gun but not a fairly rare Trench. I am no expert but from the bit I do know your is questionable. I say this this based on it having a rubber but plate, the US stamping is suppose to be over the trigger guard while yours is forward. It has what I would call civilian markings above the trigger guard. The barrel marking should be on the left side of the barrel while yours is on top. The lug and shield look to me to be a sort of cheap repro, and the stock marking if I recall should be farther rearward. The P and flaming bomb are rather weak and the receiver looks like a refinish. Again, I am NOT an expert so don't take what I say as if I were.
