This old(i got it used when i was 12 and i am now 60) tube fed 22 bolt rifle has an old fashion Weaver 1 inch side mount for the scope which is an old Bushnell 2.5 x20 fixed power. It is my most accurate 22 of the 3 i own( a marlin 60 and a Rem 550 auto).
As my eyes aren't what they used to be i want a higher power scope. the problem is back in the day scopes had a smooth round tube with no protrusions for the elevation and windage turrets. the protrusions won't allow for my mount to work.
modern scopes all seem to have these protrusions. what are my options?
I have considered getting a gunsmith to machine the current side mount to provide clearance for modern scopes. there are also some bolt throw issues with the model 66.
any ideas fellas??
