Steyr AUG

Do you know if MSAR has changed anything on the trigger assembly? My memories of shooting a USR do not cast the AUG in a particularly favorable light with regards to the trigger.

Ditto. The triggers just sucked on the semi/full auto AUG's and semi USR's that I've shot.

I stumbled across a few aftermarket fixes advertised in SAR but never check 'em out.

Great picture! HAH!

I am a huge AUG fan. Have been for years. I could never bring myself to buy a $3000 AUG, as all the ones I saw were beat to hell. Too hard to keep a gun like that new in box I guess.

I did buy the MSAR, and am super happy with it. Mine has functioned perfectly and fit and finish blows away any AUG I've ever handled. Microtech certainly knows how to machine some metal. They have improved trigger greatly, it is now much lighter and shorter than the original AUG. Still a little squishy, but much improved.

This thing is seriously fun to shoot.

Are you looking to buy one? I know someone that has a preban Aug for sale, PM me and I'll ask him how much he wants for it.

Do these Microtech guns take AUG mags? If they make one that takes AR mags I'll take one.

While they have done wonders with the old AUG magazine design, the fact that they did not redesign the rifle to use AR mags while they were at it is very disappointing.

The proprietary magazine will be the limiting factor in the sales of this thing and will keep it in the "toy" category. They appear to be hoping for LE sales but with a proprietary magazine that's just not likely to happen.

Other than that the Microtech looks like a very well built rifle, well worth the 1600 or so price tag I'd say. Just know you are going to be spending a lot of money on magazines.

Their retail price list shows $30 for a 30 rd magazine. That's pretty steep.

Wow, yet another "magical unicorn" rifle sighting!

After seeing this actually make it to market, and the FN2000, and the SiG 556, and the XCR... I'm ready to believe anything. The Magpul PDR is currently at the top of my "want to see it hit the market" list, since it is tiny, bullpup, and STANAG-mag.

I'm still holding out for a FAMAS clone though. Maybe Kershaw wants to get into the mix?
