I recently took my son to a range to try out different types of semi-automatic pistols including the Sig P226, Sig Pro, Sig P229, Glock 17, HK USP, Ruger P89, Walther P99 and 92FS in hopes of finding out which one to purchase for him as a gift. I'm fairly new to handguns, my son has way more experience. Anyways, we both liked the P226 the best out of the above, I also really liked the USP and Sig Pro. The P226 we tried had a very nice trigger and felt good in hand, was easy to use and the recoil was not bothersome at all. To me the Ruger had the softest shot and the Walther had the hardest and was the most surprising in terms of recoil. The Glock 17 was alright for me, but he doesn't like Glocks (not sure why). Unfortunately, the range did not have any Steyrs to try out.
The problem is there is only about $400 that can go towards this purchase, and from what I have heard over in GT was that CDNN will not sell handguns to folks in California, which if true would put the P226 out of range for us.
So, for those who have tried or owned any of the above guns, please
compare them with the Steyr M9. Also please relate the recoil.
Thanks.
cheers, js
