While organizing my next STI group buy, I was informed that STI would be doing a budget line of guns using an Armscor frame/slide and STI components. I called them, and it is true.

I'll have a price list in the next couple of weeks, and they will probably be available in November or so. The suggested retail is going to be in the mid $600 range.

I'm pumped. I've ordered in some recent Armscor guns for customers, and they've looked pretty good. STI components are excellent, so this sounds like it will be a real quality 1911 for a good price.

:)

This was announced some time ago.

The STI Spartan can be compared to one of the
new-generation Armscor Medallions, with STI internals and fitting.
Possibly the A2 (13+1 capacity .45 ACP), but more likely the singlestack
8+1, given the $635.oo retail quote.

...and, yes, it sounds extremely interesting.

Thanks for letting the cat outta the bag Correia!:D Thanks for the additional info Horge. When I called STI they said $635 too, but didn't give me any additional details. If it's going to be based on the Medallion line with STI parts it should make for one awesome mid-range 1911. I was hoping for a gun with STI on it that it wouldn't be the Rock Island version. The Armscor Medallions are some beautiful guns, love the glossy blueing on them. If STI will back them up after the sale I'd say this is a done deal for me!:neener:

Matt, they won't be available until probably November. Thanks for the heads up Horge.

I'm doing the group buy in September. I still need to get pricing details on these, but I should have it by then, and I can get these added onto the buy for the forumites. :)

I just started working at STI in the Gunsmithing Department. I am one of the people who does the final assembly as well as other steps in the manufacturing process. We are not working on any of these pistols yet. I have heard rumors, nothing I remember. I will ask tomorrow and post what I find out. $635.00 is MSRP.

Wow! Thanks for the insider info Tejas! From what I've heard on another forum, take of it what you will, is that STI is just shipping their parts to Armscor and Armscor will be doing all the building, and then ship the final product back to the states. If ya'll there at Georgetown are doing the building that would be even better:) .

Like I said, I don't know anything. I will attempt to find out tomorrow or when info is available. I know STI is about to release a revolver, the SAA Texican.

I too understand that was the original plan, but your DHS seems to have had
a thing or two to say about it. From the STI website, there's this
'SkinnErgram' http://www.stiguns.com/SkinnErgrams/SGRAM-88.html
from back in May '06.

...A "lower end" (in price) 1911 built with many high quality STI parts, but assembled "off shore". It'll be .45ACP (what else?) only, unramped bushing barrel, full length guide rod, single sided thumb safety, and Parkerized. It's name is to be the "Spartan". (Russell Nichols from our Slide Dept. takes the cash for this suggestion.) We should have been "on the street" with this one already but I think we confused the U.S. State Department and Homeland Security (Customs) with our desire to "take ‘em out and bring ‘em back". If you order now, your lead time should be about our normal quoted period but this one is subject to slippage due to the "powers that be" in Washington . We'll keep you posted.

Hi Tejas!
Can you get Correia and co. a discount?
Hehehehe...

:) :) :)

Correia is getting the best price possible. I'm sure he will take good care of you. If you need anything information wise, I can help you there. The Spartan seems to be on time for delivery in November. Of course the Dealers and Distributors who got their orders in first will have their pistols shipped first. The Spartan will be assembled overseas and brought to STI. Instead of a Life Time Gaurantee, they will have a limited warrantee. They will be a Single Stack .45. Everyone understand I am a new employee at STI, I am not their official spokesman. I will attempt to pass on the most accurate information possible, I may make mistakes, I will correct that as quickly as possible. Do not hold this against STI. If you have a specifice request for information please ask. I work in the gunsmithing department. If you get a pistol that has problems , understand it was one of the other gunsmiths who assembled it.:)

Armscor isn't going to carry STI's water insofar as marketing is concerned.
Until STI puts out a press release photo, we're SOL.
However, you can just google up an image of the Armscor Medallion Tactical,
then imagine a parkerized finish and STI rollmark on that badboy.

The really juicy rumor is the ongoing R&Dtowards an Armscor 10mm.
Forged steel, of course; Armscor prices, supposedly for 2007 trials.
Stay tuned, I guess.

:)

PLEASE make me a .40 s&w version single stacked with adj. sights!!!!! If it is half the pistol my trojan 9mm is it will be the steal of the century!

Armscor got a CNC machine for this venture.

Initial roll-out will be in .45 ACP

There is also a clamor here in the Philippines for .40 SS, I heard Armscor management wants a study done first if the demand is large enough to consider

Techmike, where'd you find that picture?

I ordered one from Correia, sight unseen, because the price was too good to pass up.

Do you know if those sights are standard, or addon? I would prefer Novak style sights as the Bomar cuts a lot of material out of the slide. Still, for less than $600 (group buy price) it looks like it will be a nice gun.

Spartan Pictures

Hi, Here are some pictures of the Spartans that I received from STI, early this week. From talking to the QA guys at STI, the guns are shooting great, and holding some impressive group sizes. From the Sales guys at STI, the Spartans will be shipping very soon, we are expecting our first order of 16 to be in late this week or early the following week.
