I figure the Obamessiah has this one in the bag. From there I surmise that we're going to get hit with high taxes/regulation on ammo. I think they've learned it is easier to go after the ammo than the guns.

Accordingly, I've been stocking up when I see the opportunity.

Today Dick's Sporting Goods runs a 'Buy One, Get One' on all ammo. Limit buy three boxes, get three boxes free. Cool, I'm in. 6 boxes of Winchester .308 for the price of 3 boxes; .45 per round before tax. It's 150 gr SP which will run through the DPMS just fine and the brass is reloadable which I'm also after as the DPMS is my very first .308 gun.

Stop by Cabela's on the way home and ask if they'll match the deal. Yes, of course; we match. OK... buy three boxes of Federal Power Shok 150gr SP and I start to walk out with 6 boxes, this time at .40 per round, all reloadable. But WAIT! They've got a club card deal going. Buy $100 total and get $30 off. I'm at $50 so I pick up a couple of Nemesis pocket holsters I've been wanting at $17 each and some of their good hunting sox to make it to $100. So I get the whole load for $70 plus tax.

I choose to view it as getting another $30 off on the .308 ammo :) (hey, it's my call.. I say the ammo got cheaper!) making me a happy man. Laid in 240 rounds of .308 for about .32 per round, tax included.

Then I went and shot 2 rounds of trap and 2 of skeet.

What a NICE day.

sounds like a great day!!!! i dont ever leave walmart with out a box of ammo either 243 30-30 or 30-06 its a personal law that i cant leave that store with out a box seems to work good and keeps me in good supply!!!

How long is Dicks running the ammo special? That sounds too good to pass up. I'll have to hit my local store tomorrow if it is company wide.

The local KC area flyer says Oct 18th.

Should be able to pull up your local area flyer; there's a weekly circular link at the bottom of the home page. Just put your zip code in the page that comes up.

Interesting side note they had some UMC pistol ammo 30-40% off. I asked the counterman if the buy 1 get 1 deal was based on the sale price. He said definitely not.

I needed some .308 anyway so I didn't worry about it. However, I asked the cashier if the deal was on sale price or regular price and he said it ran off whatever the scanner rang up. I think it's possible you might get the UMC on this deal at the sale price; depends on how they programmed the puter. 230gr Ball .45 ACP was ~ $14.50. 14.5 cents a round on 100rds is pretty nice if it worked out.

None of the rifle ammo was discounted that I saw though. Still a fair deal IMO. I'll take .308 at .45/rd

Sounds like the same math my wife uses to tell me the 600 dress she just bought was really free if you figured all the promotions into the equasion.

The next month when the bill comes in, she tells me I'm not using the new math, so I don't understand.

The 50% coupon is it. Clip that out, take it to the store, pick out your ammo and head to the register. They'll charge you the scanned price for 3 boxes and give you 3 more of equal or lesser value.

I just bought all the same ammo.

Sadly, the Dick's near me interprets that coupon as "buy one, get the second one half price." This has come up before, and I have tried arguing with them, but it's no use. The wording of the coupon isn't clear. See for yourself:

my goal is 10k rounds per caliber that I use... you may think that is a lot, but think of 30 round mag ak's and ar's, fighting off the zombies will eat these up pretty fast.

They need a serious lesson in commas. Is it "Buy one get one, 50% off all ammo" or is it "Buy one, get one 50% off all ammo"?

ammo is at an all time high after 7 yrs of bush in office and its obamas fault?the election has'nt even been held yet.thats reaching far.when the war is over and the economy gets better the ammo will go down again.this site has truely brain washed some

Without getting into a political discussion, was ist verbotten! I suggest all of you go to this web address: http://origin.barackobama.com/issues/urban_policy/
and decide for yourself, without making snide comments, who will be responsible for what, and keep it to youself, or make your snide comments on a website where they are appropriate.

The store here interepreted it as buy a box get an equal or lower price box for free, up to 3 paid/ 3 free boxes total.

I would place a quick call to Dick's Headquarters and get it settled. If your store manager is wrong, I'm sure they'd love to straighten him out.

Maybe I just got lucky.

Every paycheck I've been picking up a pound of powder or 1000 primers or some bulk cases or bullets---getting quite a stock going now.

Last week Midway had Federal 140gn .270 Speer Bearclaw--nickle cased ammo on clearance for $12.76 a box---bought 3 boxes----a price check now says that same ammo is $48+ per box.

My .270 loves the Hornady 140 grainers---so I should be ok with these---if not, I have 60 nice cases for reloading.

Also have bulk pack .22's all over the place---garage---gun room----car etc.

I went to the gunshow a couple of weeks ago and marveled at the ammo prices and absurd stories from the ammo peddlers on the impending doom and how the price of copper doubled and therefore doubled the price of ammo.

Kinda like the price of sand doubled and therefore the prices of sandpaper doubled. Haha

After watching the extent of the lies on mainsteam media and the creepy calls for a "national civilian police force as powerful as the DoD". I can tell you nothing positive will come from the socialists if they win this one.

Stocking up is probably a great idea.

If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

I just got off the phone with Kim at Dick's Customer Service. She had to check with the Big Boss Man and she called me back.

My store interepreted the ad incorrectly. It should be buy 1 get 50% off the 2nd box.

So yesterday was my lucky day. My local Dick's store screwed up and Cabela's honored the screw up.

Sorry this isn't going to work out for the rest of yas...........

...........but I still had a pretty good day!

Yeah, ToadPS, you got lucky. I think they word the coupon that way on purpose to get people into the store. I'm glad someone was able to work it to their advantage for a change.

If you play the coupons right, Dick's is still the best deal for shotgun shells. With the case discount, manufacturer rebates, and "$10 off of $50 purchase" that you can find floating around, it's possible right now to get a case of Remington Gun Club for $4 a box. I might have to buy a few more cases to stash away for trap season next year.
