I just got off the phone (cell phone) with a relative who lives in the same area as I do (Sacramento, CA) and she said that allot of power lines are down with live wires everywhere and thousands of people in the area are without power. She even acted surprised that I still have both power and internet. Shortly after I woke up this morning I heard something large smack up against my neighbors house and a few smaller things hit my own throughout the day. Unfortunately, I am stuck in bed sick without an antenna on my TV so I am clueless as to what's going on and what to watch out for. It sounds and feels like a tropical storm or hurricane. Does anyone know anything about this storm?

Looks like it's windy. Weather.com reports 55 MPH gusts at the AFB. Stay safe up there!

So is anyone else amused that people love this site so much they ask about the weather here rather than navigate to a weather site to find out?

He's sick and in bed, in the middle of an apparent natural disaster. Cut him some slack!:)

WOW! That's tropical storm and pushing C-1 hurricane strength! I thought it felt like a heavy tropical storm or hurricane (I use to live in FL) The development around here is less equipped to handle winds like that then southern states that still suffer.

A google search got me one result on the matter that wasn't at all useful. I'm afraid that I don't keep up with this stuff.

Yeah, our building codes -- and homeowners -- around here are a lot more concerned with fire protection than hurricane protection.

For updates check with the Sacramento Bee and weather.com (check out that satellite picture!) sites. This storm is front-page news on both sites.

I'm in Davis, 10 miles west of Sac, and we are getting pummeled with wind. It's blowing a lot of shingles off roofs and knocking over motorcycles, but so far I still have power (knock on wood).

Same storm is Battering us here in Idaho right now, just hope it dies down at least for tomorrow.
(Have a live-fire CCW Certification class tomorrow at an outdoor range)
