Here's a really weird situation....

I live in Lakewood Colorado and had been using an indoor range in Wheatridge, about six miles away, called The Silver Bullet, mainly because a range nearer to me was closed for some reason. Now, I didn't like the Silver Bullet because it wasn't very clean and their fee policies were pretty unreasonable (they charge by the person even if they are using one lane and even if one person is acting as instructor to a child...in my case...and not even firing a shot). Also, one of the instructors who worked there part time came down with lead poisoning, an indication of how poor the ventilation was in there.

Anyway, about three months ago I drove by the range near me, K2, and noticed a banner hanging on the building saying "OPEN". Nothing else. Wanting to know what the rates and hours were I jumped on the internet and did a search. Lots of sites referencing the K2 range in Lakewood. This is where it get's strange.

All the sites list basically the same info. A web site...but it doesn't exist. A phone number....which connects you to the operator at Colorado National Bank. An email address for additional info......but your message is returned as undeliverable. Well, so much for rocket scientists running their marketing program.

So I tried another quick approach. There's a web site called Colorado Shooting.Org that boasts "your one stop shop for all shooting related activities in Colorado" and has a listing of all the ranges (same info as above). So I fired off a quick email to them to see if they had any more recent information on K2. Sure seems a lot easier than jumping in the car and driving down there, right? Plus, they could do a community service by updating the bad info.

Result??? Their email comes back as undeliverable too.

Now, lest anybody get the impression that there are no rocket scientists in Colorado I know for a fact that there are some that work at the Martin Marietta plant.....but obviously they aren't gun enthusiasts!!!

Makes a person want to hang a target in their backyard and start shooting...

uuuuhhh, yeah

brashboy...the range that was in Golden got shut down....so that developers could build a bunch of $400,000 homes on that property. (Same thing that happened about ten years ago to the open range on old Kipling in Lakewood). So now the Golden Gun Club is nowhere near Golden, it's about 30 miles east of Denver. That's progress!

OCJ....Yeah, I could stop sometime and inquire but that wasn't my point. It just amazed me that after several months of aparently being open they still don't have the most basic elements of contact in place. Maybe a good range in the area (with a little bit of advertising) would be a good investment! Wouldn't have much competition.

I will stop next time I happen to be near there......

My wife's aunt likes in Lakewood - nice area but I'll stay here.
Anyways...is there any private gun clubs nearby that you could join? Proberly get better facilities and a better cost overall. If not, check with the local shops as to suggestion on local shooting facilities. Gotta be something out that way.

Lakewood covers a lot of ground. Depending on what part of Lakewood you live in, you might consider The Shootist in Englewood.

Try this nice range

There is a commfy little range in Arvada, it is called Arvada rifle and pistol co. It is on 52 and wadsworth right by the park and ride. I used to shoot for competion there. It is nothing fancy but it works, and they are really well priced.

It's open again, but I haven't been there. I think it's Green Mountain (Range?). I've also heard conflicting stories on weather or not they are affiliated with Green Mountain Guns. I remember picking up a flyer at a gun store in the past few weeks regarding it, but I'm not sure what I did with it. All the ranges I goto these days are in Aurora.
