Shooting started around 9:00 pm here.

Mostly handguns, some rifles, some shotgun.
People across the body of water doing most of the shooting.
People at the apartment complex doing some of the shooting.
I hear more gunfire here, than at a packed gun range.

I AM STAYING AWAY FROM THE WINDOWS.

i heard people shooting off all kinds of guns tonight and i am pissed off
because it is in a populated area.

See the how stupid can people be thread. New Year's Eve, Alcohol and Guns. Just not a good combination as far as I can tell.

If blanks were more common, it would be a great thing for 4th of July/New Years people who insist on shooting weapons into the air.

Yup, it sucks.

I heard quite a bit of gunfire around my neighborhood. I guess some of the 'fiddy-centers' were contributing to the celebratory spirit of the holiday.

I was out tossing a few Blackcats, when my next door neighbor walked up and showed me a 9mm FMJ that had landed in the street next to him.:cuss:

What can you do?

There was one time where a stray bullet went thru this persons roof. and it got wedged into his bedroom matress.. luckly he wasn't laying down when the incident happened. he was in the living room when it happened.there was a New Years that I actually had to take cover, while the whistles of stray bullets past. I was crotching to my door, irresponsible idiots with firearms! It will be ok if they had there own piece of land away up in the mountains or whatever. but, they fire off there firearms in a residential area. Felt like I was in beruit for a point of time.. what goes up must come down. thank god no one got hurt this new years from stray bullets, alcohol and stupidity don't mix..

DT!

Funny, I started at about 5:00 pm with my shotgun and fired 8 1/2 boxes of shells tonight. All of them were aimed into the air too. Seemed pretty safe and sane to me.

Of course this was at the trap club...

Happy New Year!

:scrutiny: Seems like every year the Stupid Fairy smacks too many people in the head! :banghead:

Best in the New Year ........... Mike

It was raining hard here... so kept the idjiits with fireworks and other noisemakers somewhat subdued.

The main trouble is that people don't shoot straight up...they shoot at an angle, giving the bullet a trajectory. If they shot straight up, the bullet would fall under its own weight, and not even penetrate much soft soil, let alone your roof....there have been quite a few people killed by stray bullets, it is too bad.

I have shot my guns on New Years. I would put in a big powder charge. Top it off with a wad. Then put a cap on and let it rip. You get a big flash too.

Semper Fi

A few bottle rockets into the rain-soaked woods and a stripper clip of 7.62x39 blanks into the air thru one of the SKSs. You can celebrate a little bit and still be safe.

Ersistenca Is Fitule- Dyslexia of Borg

CDignition- That is a GREAT signature!

Happy New Year from NJ. Not much gunfire around here last night........or any other time, for that matter.
:D

In AZ it's a felony to recklessly discharge a firearm in the air, Shannon's Law,named for a young lady killed by a stray bullet. I heard very little gunfire this year, mostly bottle rockets and small fireworks.

...yep...heard a few discharges going off at midnight...the stupid fairy :D made at stop here, too...of course, i may no better, since i blew off my hoarded fireworks in the street. 500 firecrackers in a roll makes a heckuva lot of noise, but it made me grin for minute.

Had some of that last night here at the lake.

Boom...Boom....Boom

All shotguns. Sure was tempted to take out the M14 and unload a couple or twenty round mags into the hillside out back.....:neener:

But since I had a few drinks and was feeling a little lazy, I didn't.

Ignoramuses.

I just did one of my empty 3 liter soda bottles with about two tablespoons of FFF in the bottom and called it a night.

We went to a new years eve party. First one in 20 plus years because we were asked by good friends showing off the new house. We left at 9:30 and were home safe from the morons by 10:00. :)
