Suggestion for a centerfire semi

Wanted to know what you guys think would be a good centerfire caliber for general target practice and shotting fun.

I want something that does not have much recoil, as high as possible capacity mag.

Kind of hard to go wrong with a "9" in this case. I would go with a Ruger P95-series. 15-round magazines, accurate, reliable and "built like tank". I see them new-in-box for $329.99 on the internet and store shelves all...damn...day.

Go with the 9mm, mostly for the price of the ammo. Also, standard capacity 9mms (over 10 rounds) usually have smaller grips than standard capacity .45s (over 10 rounds). Low capacity 9mms (10 rounds or less) will likewise usually have smaller grips than low capacity .45s.

To me, the recoil issue is a non-issue...both the 9mm and the .45 are very mild in the recoil department in a full sized gun. Having said this, I'd still recommend the 9mm for a first semi-auto.

If you want a good inexpensive 9mm the Feg HP copies are good . They run in the high $200's new . Or if you want a nicer higher priced 9 a Beretta 92
or Sig 226 are excellent !

Glock 17 9mm. Its light shooting, accurate, and holds 17 rounds in the mag. You can even buy a 33 round mag for it.

You had the word “target” in your post. That rules out all the plastic guns.

You can pick-up a good 1911 for $600 - $700. (Kimber, S&W, Springfield)
