Suggestions for holster for 1911

Looking for a CCW holster for Gov't. size 1911. I prefer OWB but open to other suggestions.I'm 6'1 240# with a 40" waist (I'm portly).Suggest holster type/style and Manufacturer please

Just bought a Desantis IWB Coxy Partner holster. I also have a 40 inch waist. The added leather does on my M&P doews make some of my pants a little tight but its really comfortable and stable. I'll just buy 42s from now on. It DEFINITELY makes a difference to spend the money on a good holster. I imagine a 1911 would be great in this holster.

I'm five inches shorter and 90 lbs. lighter. So all that follows is guesswork, to a degree.

If you like OWB, fine, but be sure your covering garment is long enough to conceal the bottom of the holster under all circumstances. I would suggest a "loop-and-tunnel" (sometimes called an "Askins" or "Avenger") belt attachment rather than the "pancake" with its front and rear slots. It will space the gun out more from your body, but this might be more advantageous for you. A few suggestions:

Never heard of him before. That's a nice-looking IWB rig (for me). Too bad he's backed up and not taking any orders until the end of May. Such is the nature of the one-man holster shops, I guess.

Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 works well for me.

Mine is horsehide, and it was *really* stiff when I first got it. Now that it is broken in, presentation is very fast and easy, but the gun is still secure and does not rattle or wiggle. Trigger and thumb safety are both well covered.

The 1911 is very flat and conceals well. The SS2 holster has a forward (FBI) cant that makes the gun lie close to the body and keeps the grip from sticking out back and printing. I can wear it comfortably with just a t-shirt covering it.

I find IWB to be most comfortable when the belt rides low on my hips, much like cowboys' gunbelts in old western movies. Also, with any holster, make sure you get a broad, stiff belt, at least 1.5". If the belt is too thin for the loops, the gun will rotate and print.

A few years ago I used a Desantis Inner Piece IWB without thumb break. Now for my Springer I use a Galco Royal Guard IWB. I am 6'1" 233lbs with a 38" waist.

My choice was the Alessi CQC/S which I purchased from Lightning Arms at http://lightningarms.com/products.htm. It was my second Alessi holster and I can't be more pleased. As long as Lou Alessi and Tony Kanaly are still in business I see no reason to look elsewhere. The only thing that sucks is they are both very busy so you have to wait.

What type of gun?

The only OWB holster I have tried that worked extremely well was the Talon Tactical A10. It is an amazing holster for concealment. It tucks the butt in a little to close for competition but it disappears under a cover garment. The draw is extremely smooth with very little resistance but it still manages to retain the gun very well. You have to pull straight up or the gun won't come out.

I don't own one yet but have ordered one. I currently use a Hume 721OT which works well but is not the cat's meow as I am expecting of the HF1.
Don't forget, as others say, that a good belt is a must also, preferrably ordered with and from the holster maker.
OWB for me with an untucked polo style shirt.

When not wearing a shoulder rig, I prefer Yaqui belt slides...This particular one is Gould & Goodrich w/full-size 1911...It fits high & tight: the way I like it for retrieval....
