I would like to hear from you guys. I've been shooting an RWS Diana .177. It shoots good and I've killed dozens of pest squirrels and rabbits in my back yard, mostly 15-30yds.. The ones I miss are in dimly lit undergrowth due to a cheap crappy scope and the occasional longer shot maybe 30-40 yds. My plan has been to upgrade, but haven't wanted to invest much in a new scope for my springer. Now my friend has borrowed it and likes the fact that he killed 3 pest squirrels yesterday. He may buy it which leaves me with a great opportunity to upgrade.
So......I would appreciate suggestions for a PCP .177 rifle or .22 if you think it might be bettter. I would like to spend no more than say $750 with decent scope included. That means no Brocock rifles, which I would love, but not willing to spend the money. Targets will mostly be back yard pests and an occasional squirrel hunt. Thanks for the help!

Just saw a review this morning on You Tube (Blocketh Outdoors) of a Umarex Origin in .22
He was shooting Crosman pellets into essentially 1-hole groups @ 25 yards, with velocities in the low 900’s.
The whole set-up; gun, scope, pump, & pellets was under $500.

Might be worth a look…

I suggest checking out the Umarex Notos
It is compact and quiet - if that matters to you
And it's cheap enough for you to buy an electric compressor also

Umarex Notos looks like a good option. I'm selling my RWS Diana so much of the cost would be paid for with that sale. And I'm liking the idea of having enough money to buy a good compressor. I have small shop compressor, but it doesn't have enough oomph. I'm still aa little undecided about the .117 vs. .22. Thanks for the tip

I am still in the Benjamin Marauder .25 (USA) and Gamo Urban .22 (UK) camp:

Targets at 40 yards. The Urban target is ten shots, a full magazine. Both rifles are heavily modded. The Marauder gets 16 shots on the regulator at 55 fpe and 8+ shots on the regulator at 65 fpe. The Urban runs about 30 shots at 26 fpe, unregulated.

You cannot fill a PCP rifle with a "shop compressor" or anything similar. PCP rifles generally need 3000 psi or more and no shop compressor will get anywhere near that. Not sure what your backyard is like but when it comes to killing things .22 is more lethal than .177 IMO and .25 just hammers things ;).

I'm thinking about selling my two Diana mod 48s and my Fwb 300. I would like to get into the pcp game too. Hate trying to change from the known to the unknown.

Compressor:

Plus an BSA/UK made Urban:

And a Bushnell Dusk to Dawn AO:

You can probably find a used 80 CF SCUBA tank on offer up or similar sites in your area for pretty cheap, Ive seen good tanks sell as low as 50 bucks. Getting it hydro tested runs about 60 bucks if its manufacture date, or last test, was over 5 years ago. (Federal law is strict on that requirement). Tank/rifle fill adapters for the PCP fill nipple can be bought at Champions Choice.

80 cfm tank refills last a long time. They can be done for about 6 bucks at a dive shop, or maybe even for free at a fire station that has a 3000 psi SCBA compressor with a cool captain in charge. ;)

I did buy a bicycle pump type charger for my sons Crosman Challenger 2021 match rifle, but pumping for a while to charge the rifle isn’t much fun.

Just a thought.

Good luck finding the right PCP,

Stay safe.
