What are you guys using to carry powder for reloads for your cap 'n ball revolvers?
I carry my usual copper flask with measuring tip in my coat pocket in winter. When I carried it in my hip pocket In the summer, I dented it when a sat down.
I salvaged an appropriate sized plastic bottle but I worry about an explosion in my hip pocket if I should get a static spark. I made a ball/wad/cap wallet that holds 18 reloads. so I need a container big enough for 18x 30gr 3f.
They make a baby flask. Does anyone use one?

The small "baby" flask doesn't hold very much in my experience. Why not make or purchase a belt type holster for the flask you want to carry. That way you won't sit on it.

I do intend to build a leather capbox type belt box. I dont want to carry my large flask though. I only need about 600-700gr. If I can decide on a flask...then I can start my capbox project .

If you get a plastic one just wipe the insides with a Bounce-type dryer sheet. It takes care of all those pesky electrons.

I have a baby flask i like it for my 31cal Ulberti 49 Colt pocket pistol. I have a small powder horn with measure spout when i an out and about with my cap and ball revolvers.

I made my own mini flask out of copper tubeing. Soldered a length of one inch tubeing with endcaps and then drilled one end and tapped it to 1/8 pipe and then used a standard powder flask valve. Mini flask currently has a 50 grain spout on it for my walker. For shot and felts I use an empty cap tin. Primers go into an empty mechanical pencil refill tube.

The Pedersoli E. Pluribus Unum flask holds about 2 ounces or just shy of 900 grains.

Track of the Wolf has the Hawksley flasks on clearance. Some are leather, some are quite small and have larger, adjustable spouts that are all flame proof.

Unless you're shooting under lawyer's rules, there is no need to use a measure instead of a spout on your flask.

I was thinking about using a plastic bottle with am empty .45acp for a measure, but a small flask with a spout would be better.
I'll check out Tracks sale.
I think the only copper tubing I have would be 1/2" so my home-made flask would have to be 3' long lol.
I might uncover a priming horn that would be about the right size but that wouldnt fit too well in a copbox.
I didnt think about the drier sheet treatment. that will work for now.
A couple of my HS buddies were experimenting with some oxy=acetylene in a garbage bag. they had a garbage bag about half full when static spark set it off. Neither one was seriously hurt, but it split ones pantleg from the knee down.

The Chinese muzzle loaders use two plastic water bottles. One for shot and the other for powder.

I would consider flattening a horn for a powder flask.

Why not forego the flask. Order the36 or 44 call quick load tube from Winchester Sutler and preload the powder and ball. Many flea markets have belt type mobile phone carriers of different sizes. Or any other type belt pouch. Place as many preloaded tubes in the pouch as you need for the day. Powder and ball/bullet in one tube.

No, they make drop tubes for black powder out of brass because their lawyers told them to, out of fear of nuisance law suits.

There have been many experiments attempting to ignite black powder with static electricity. The physics just doesn't support it. Just to be clear: black powder is conductive, not resistive, and will conduct, rather than resist, the static electricity; thus it will not heat up. However, if the powder contains some contaminant, like metal shavings, they MAY be resistive and heat up enough to ignite the powder. Keep your powder clean.

And have a good time trying to get a static electricity spark from a plastic bottle. Bet you can't do it.

It depends if you're talking about hunting ot target practice. For the range I just have an old army canvas bag that I throw all of my stuff (possibles) in including my large brass powder flask. For hunting, I use a smaller flask made from leather that can be hung from the belt.

How about a small brass flask housed inside a small leather pouch that can be attached to your belt.

Something like this one;

Somewhat of an answer if you want to stay somewhat traditional.

I just put my stuff back in my cowboy action gun cart. But if I were walking around much at all and shooting and reloading on the fly I think I'd just use a shooting bag to hold the flask, balls, overball lube/sealer and caps. And in my case I use a push stick of softwood to firmly seat the caps. So that would be in there as well. I'd far rather have all that junk in a bag that has organized sub pockets inside to hold the major items. It's far more effective and quicker to reload from a pouch of that sort that is all organized than fumble around in various pockets. And I can't see a belt mounted cartridge box being large enough to carry enough to make a day of it.

I keep all my gear and the revolvers in a large toolbox, I take the whole thing to the club for bp shoots.
For woodswalking, mushroom hunting, etc, I want to go light. I made a wallet for everything but the powder. I only need 18 shots worth of powder or about 600gr.

I use the larger Treso flask at cowboy action shoots. I can shoot 5 stages with 2 revolvers using 20 grains per chamber...so that works out to 50 shots worth of powder, about 1000 grains.

This thread got me thinking about a small cheap flask. I had a extra flask valve so i made this flask.
