I kinda cringed at another chopped M-N... but that is very well done. Kudos!

Very nice! Great looking rifle! How much are the stocks & was it hard to covert the magazine? Also did it come with that extra magazine? How many rounds will it hold? Any other information on that would be appreciated. I would like one myself! Thanks for showing it to us!

I am the same way, he did nice work, but why. So much time and money into something that might...just might shoot as well as a $400 new rifle?....to each his own.

I have seen far too many really valuable 91/30 modified....there are a billion of the silly things, at least do it to one that is not 1916 Westinghouse.
really valuable mosins hahahah. you would have to live 200 years to see that

Initially I cringed but then I realized it looks pretty cool, but on a personal note I would've left the barrel longer. But it's your gun, let us know how it goes.

I like it. And it's awesome that you did all the work yourself. I have a buddy who absolutely abhors bubbaized Mosin's, but my opinion is that it's an inexpensive rifle that's easy to modify, so why not?

I'm anxious for the range report. Did you do anything as far as crowning the muzzle?

Maybe that's what
Then I slowly removed barrel material until approx 15mm round.
means?

its a very nice looking project gun though Topped with Ncstar pistol scope
and can't help but wonder how long it will stay zeroed...or even in one piece.

i await the range report...and how long the scope lasted.
my Nc on a sks went ded on the 4th shot.

I crowned the barrel with a brass screw in a drill and some lapping compound.

I am going to use one of my Mosins as a BPCR. I figure it would be fun to smoke up the range for cheap. Pull cheap surplus ammo, reload with BP and a 100gr wadcutter and fire away. Can fire 10 of them for the cost of 1 or 2 45-70 or .43 Spanish BP loads. Cleanup isn't going to be any worse than a Trapdoor or Rolling Block. I do have a bunch of brass 7.62x54r cases to reload in case the surplus idea is a bust.

I removed barrel material around the barrel to get it small enough OD to thread it.

I crowned after filing it down with a machinist square. Used a flathead 1/4in brass machine screw and 240 grit lapping compound in a drill.

Placed the compound in the muzzle face and the screw head facing down. Medium drill speed and rotated in all directions. Took about 10 min and the crown was tapered well and had no sharp spots. Seemed even to the naked eye.

Worked well

I would really like to know more about that stock & the conversion from inbloc mag. to box magazine. Also price of kit. Was it a drop in? Please let us know some information on it. Thanks!

An infamous hunter failed to question the killing of over a thousand elephants for their ivory by himself alone at the turn of the 20th century. Similar story with the Buffalo. Things are there until they aren't. The fire at the Library of Alexandria was no big deal. There were plenty of other books.
Killing living creatures for their hides/ ivory and bubbafying a Mosin are two different things. I built my Mosin 91/30 from parts so I could build it the way I want. My money spent on an inanimate object makes it mine to do with as I will.

there is a difference between killing 1000 elephants out of a 200,000 elephant population and hacking up 1 mosin nagant out of 15 million...

just saying.
I'm a purist when it comes to guns made in smaller numbers like springfields and arisakas... I could care less if someone bubba's a mosin...

Really nice job! I come from a time when you could go into just about any hardware store and pick a milsurp out of a barrel for $29.95, go home and hack away at it to suit your pleasure. Many a good old Mauser was converted to a suitable deer rifle using the original stock. but cut down to a sporting fore-end length, rounded off, and re-finished.

The comment was correctly directed to a specific point and makes no quantitative comparison.
