supposed mystery weapon (small pic)

Axman, it's got to be South Indonesian Pygmy Hamsters - not full-sized models. That barrel wouldn't take the pressures involved in launching full-sized hamsters.

I built my own when I was in the super-secret special forces - and SIPH's were pretty good for long-range accuracy. Not that these guys know what long range is. With specially-bred SIPHs, I've had sub MOA groups at a thousand yards.

Matt- I think your right on the RPG identification. The "thingy" in question still looks goofy but I'm sure it does something better than just Mk1 Gerbils (incendiary). :D

I would say its a home-made RPG tube but the scope throws me off and now that I think about it, why would someone MAKE an RPG launcher when the soviets probably left them by the truck load?

I'm with Fosberry on this one. Anyone else recall the "hostage" photo from a while back, supposedly taken in Iraq, that was demonstrably a captive "GI Joe"?

It is a hoax. someone has too much time on their hands. If you look closely. It is very small and made fron rifle casings. Look at the shoulder angle, The rear has a rim like a brass casing. looks like two put together.
That is also large grains of sand to be in a desert.

That spraypainted camo thing seriously looks like a potato cannon with some AK bits glued on. My money says it's a fake, some sensationalist nonsense whipped up to cause a stir.

It was probably issued to this poor guy.

It's either a toy or spud gun. With that goofy shoulder stock that far to the rear of the tube, the backblast would set your head on fire.

That's what I thought! I'm usually up for triggertime on anything that goes boom...but I think I'd pass on that one. Gotta be a fake.

It was photographed by Michael Yon, a reputable correspondent, embedded with the US Army in Mosul.

The gravel is too big for a desert? I didn't know there was a typical desert. I know that around Sedona Arizona, the ground is mostly crumbled sandstone, so...

could be a spud gun for practicing to get the basic function of shooting an actuall RPG!:D

I think that you're correct. Looks like a .357 case with a .22lr or WMR case glued to the end of it, and a hacked off pistolgrip buttstock of some miniature toy shotgun from a GIjoe, and a scope and foregrip from the same one.

Nice paintjob though. :D

No, it is not. It is a home made launcher designed to shoot the Soviet made 57mm S-5K rockets.

PvtPyle - You obviously know something about this weapon. Can you share some details??

Nah, looks like a carry handle on the thing below. M249 maybe?

The camo weapon does surely look like a hoax, but maybe that's what those fiendishly clever Iranians want us to think. They ought to hire cartoon network's ad agency.

There have been several of them siezed, reports are that they are home made launchers. I understand that there is also a version that is fired by timer.

It certainly looks homeade. I wonder of the person shooting suffers as much as the guy on the bad end?
