Okay, everyone.

I'm buying a pocket holster for my 642. Which is your favorite and why?

I wear jeans a LOT, and would prefer front right carry. I need something which is comfortable 24/7.

Thanks

Uncle Mike's Pocket Holster. Light, inexpensive but well-made, works for me.

The jeans may be a problem, especially if they are on the tight side. For effective pocket carry you need pants that are slightly on the loose side and have deep pockets. If you must wear jeans I have two suggestions, which might or might not help.

Buy jeans that are slightly larger then what you are wearing now, if they are on the snug side,

Have custom pockets installed that are deeper then normally come in this style of pants.

An easy test: Put the unloaded revolver in your jeans pocket and see if it prints, but don't carry the gun without a holster.

There was a recent thread on this subject. Use the forum search feature and the keyword "pants" and/or "pocket."

I have a Bob Mika pocket holster for my 642. It is really nice and looks like a wallet when whering my khacki shorts.

I bought a Sparks PCH-R. A tad on the expensive side but it'll probably outlast the gun. Pocket depth on Levi's at least is ample. Others are right--you need to make sure and buy them somewhat baggy otherwise you're in a world of hurt if you need it in a hurry.

Like FPrice, I prefer the inexpensive Uncle Mike's pocket holster. Tried the Kramer and Mika's, but keep coming back to the UM for jeans carry. Minimal bulk, comfortable, and conceals my S&W 442 pretty well in "regular" fitting jeans. With that said, I find that the Kramer and Mika holsters work really well with looser fitting trousers. Heck, get one of each!

I use the DeSantis Nemesis for my 640. It works very well with jeans, dress slacks and shorts.

Triple K makes a nice leather pocket rig for under $50 delivered. I had one but I sold it because I was still using the Uncle Mikes on the hot summer days. I seem to sweat more with a leather holster.

Unkle Mikes does the job and it's cheap.

I have a Hedley. Grabs just enought to hold the gun, but releases when you give the gun a pull. Very nice holster. I don't know if he's still making it (last time I was at his website, it was no longer listed). I don't know what I'll do if he's not. :cuss:

Next would be a Kramer pocket holster. I have one of the cowhide ones he was selling off on e-bay and it impresses me as almost as good as Hedley. Unfortunately, you'll have to get horsehide if yoiu want one of these (I had one for my Beretta Tomcat and have no complaints).

Azrael made the 642 holster I use. It looks like a wallet in my pocket, and has a hook that keeps it in place on the draw.

This holster maker isn't one you will hear a lot about he doesn't advertise at all and doesn't get mentioned on the forums, but I think his pocket holster should be one you should consider. The pocket holster by http://www.andrewsleather.com/ is very, very good. I have two of them, one for a 342 and one for a 331.

What I particularly like is the way they fit in a pocket with the bottom of the holster rounded.

I tried the Uncle Mike's and never really warmed up to it. Got an Azrael to replace it with and have been very satisfied. Excellent workmanship and function.

Another UM user. I have found that the vertical pocket opening (eg, the opening parallels the trouser seam) in most trousers, including "cargo" style are easier to draw from than the upward-opening pockets of most jeans. A small point, but one that you may find important.
