I’ll start with saying I am not a scope expert by any means. I hunt with a Marlin 336 my dad bought in 1958. The 4x Weaver scope on the rifle has always been fine for the big woods of NW Pennsylvania.
I recently became interested in taking the cheap red dot off my AR, and replacing it with an LPVO. Since I never used one,I also didn’t want to sink a bundle into it. After much research and after watching 100 YouTube videos I was down to the Primary Arms, Vortex Strike Eagle and Swampfox Tomahawk, but leaning heavily towards the Swampfox. My shooting area tops out at 75 yards so I went with the 1-4. Actually got a really good deal at Optics Planet and paid $216 plus tax. I figured if I like it, I will put the 1-4 on my 15-22 and get a 1-6 or 1-8 for the AR eventually.
I was reluctant to do a review having nothing to compare it with, but then a friend got the 1-6 Strike Eagle. The Tomahawk really outshines the Vortex in almost every way. The glass is clearer, the image brighter with more accurate color and just a generally sharper, higher definition. The illumination is also much brighter on the Tomahawk and personally I prefer the reticle. I got the Guerrilla Dot MOA reticle. There is also a Guerrilla Dot BDC reticle. I will definitely be getting a 1-8 this spring

Hard to hold the gun and get a cellphone picture but I tried

I have a few of the 1-4 Tomahawk scopes and like them a lot. Yes I feel they are better than the similar Vortex and Primary Arms scopes. When I bought my first LPVO scope it was down to two choices, a Primary Arms scope or the Swampfox Tomahawk. I definitely prefer the Tomahawk, it has a larger and more usable reticle compared to the Primary Arms LPVO scopes. Mine are the Guerrilla MOA reticles since I use them on my AR22 rifles. I also have a Swampfox Arrowhead 1-8 scope on one of my 5.56 AR rifles and it is a step up from the Tomahawk for sure.

Along with those scopes, I also have a Swampfox Blade 1X Prism scope and at least 1-2 each of all their red dot sights. Needless to say I have been happy with them all. And Swampfox gives a good MIL/LEO discount for those who qualify.

Thanks for the report.

I have quite a few of their red dot sights on pistols and love them! Thanks be been itching to try an LPVO but haven’t got anything to put it on at this point. Soon…

Also, yes…they have a heck of a military LEO discount!

I have an arrowhead 1-8 that I think is a pretty good scope for being as cheap as it was. It's heavy, but as you said very bright and clear and the eye relief is very wide range.

Yes I should have mentioned great eye relief. The eye box could be better but it is fine. Lifetime warranty, nice positive turret clicks you can feel and hear. There is a lot of value for your money. They had some incredible sales on black Friday. The company was founded on July 4. I look for them to have a significant flash sale on that date and will maybe get a higher power one. Maybe they'll do a memorial day sale
Optics Planet seems to always have a 10% off sale running so finding a nice price isn't hard

I’ve got a number of Swampfox’s optics and find them to be excellent. When I was looking for a Shield footprint sight, the only ones available were the plastic SIG Romeo Zero, plastic Shield, aluminum Shield, and Swampfox Sentinel (aluminum). I’m sure the polymer sights work fine, but I wanted a little extra assurance and wasn’t concerned about weight so I went with the Swampfox Sentinel (slightly more expensive than SIG, about the same as the plastic Shield, and about $100 less than the aluminum Shield. I also added an Ironsides so it’s even more protected. It’s been super solid. Great sight picture and holds zero. I’ve added a number of other Swampfox products and they’ve all been excellent.
