I have a gen 2 glock 23 (40 cal) and a gen 3 glock 19 (9mm), I think the .40 cal would be a better nightstand gun and would like to swap the lower gen 3 from the 9mm glock 19 for the tactical rail.

Can I do this and if so should I simply take the uppers and switch them?

You will need to switch the trigger mechanism housing as well.

Also, make sure that the 9mm frame is a three pin.

The Gen. II is a two pin frame. You may want to call Glock and ask them. But they may give you the lawyer answer. In that case, you could try the armorer at Lone Wolf.

I know that I can swap slides between a 2gen G17 and a 3gen G17L with no problems. Not so sure about the .40 to a 9mm though.
