Any history of Glock 40 cal failures or fast wear?

Did you swap the extractor and ejector as well in your 27 to 9mm conversion? Will it run reliably with just a barrel and mag swap?
I Only swaped

I only swapped out the barrel and mags. Though I wouldn't suggest that anyone use it for personal protection I have found the system to be extremely reliable and would carry for self protection myself. Lone wolf suggest the barrel be broke in with high powered loads such as white box Winchester 115 gr. But I was able to run a large variety including my 147 lower recoil handloads without any issues. In essence I tried about everyway I could to get the system to fail and I couldn't. What kind of amazed me was that I figured the recoil spring might be to stout to allow good operation with some of my lighter 9mm loads. I then Found out that the factory recoil spring and rod for the M26 and the M27 are Identical. I can only say what my own experience was with this system but I really Like it. In my Opinion You MUST use M26 Mags. I had researched the barrel and had heard a few people say you could use the M27 40 cal mags. Tried that with a jam every other shot. Some people say you can modify the 27 mags. But why would you mess up a perfectly good mag to do that when the answer is simply to buy the right size mag. The barrel is cut slightly off center which allows for the extractor to work reliably with both calibers. But it still hits in the sights no problem.

Have been seriously considering adding a Glock 27 or a HK P2000 SK to my collection.
This thread is making me feel very good about either sidearm, yet especially the Glock.
Love My 27. I shoot it as well as my full size Guns. Super reliable and use it for practice, IDPA , and is my Main House Gun. Spends each night by my bed along with a couple mags on my night stand. I normally carry a light weight 38 but I like having the 27 in the vehicle and very often have both available when I am driving. I had actually bought the 27 cheap from someone That needed the money and was looking at selling it to a box store. I knew the history of the gun and that it was practically new. I was going to sell it myself till I took it to the range. After finding out I could Hit pretty darn good with it I said this thing is not going anywhere. I mean 9 rounds of basically Holey Hell, Good accuracy, and as reliable as you can get in an auto. Oh yea it found a permanent home for sure. I like to Say if my Life is on the Line the give me my Little Brute M27 Glock!!!!

I suspect you may have misread that recommendation. Winchester "White Box" 115 gr. ammo has a reputation for being weak ammo and is often blamed for causing problems.

This is from the Lone Wolff FAQ page https://www.lonewolfdist.com/Content.aspx?PAGE=FAQs#9mm Conversions:

About 1% of our 9mm conversion barrels are affected by the poor performance of low powered 115 grain ammunition causing a Failure To Eject (FTE). A good example of ammunition that is “most likely to fail” is Winchester White Box (WWB).

I had a 31 in 357SIG that was beating itself to death. The locking block was battering the underside of the slide, and quite heavily.

I was told at the time, that that was a common thing with the 40's, and it would stop after a while, which it never did, and actually, kept getting worse. The slide was beaten up enough that I actually cut my fingers on the sharp edges while cleaning it a couple of times, and I actually filed those sharp spots down a number of times.

I got a LWD 40-9 conversion barrel for it and ended up shooting more 9mm out of it than 357SIG. The LWD barrel was drop in and never a problem. I did use my 17 mags with the gun, but no problems with the 357extractor/ejector, and the gun ran like a 17 with 9mm.

I have a 17, that at that same time, had more +P+ 9mm through it than the 31 had 357SIG through it, and it showed none of the battering signs the 31 was exhibiting. It has some light finish wear where the 31 had heavy battering, and all my 17's and other 9mms have the same thing. Seems kind of strange, since +P+ 9mm is basically right around the same 40K pressure as the 357SIG.You would have thought that you would see similar damage.

That 31 convinced me then that there really was not much point in staying with 357SIG and I switched over to 9mm. The only real difference in the two when shooting them was the 357's "bark". Other than that, I doubt you could tell the difference when you shot them, and 9mm was a lot cheaper, which meant a lot more practice. Havent regretted the decision in the least.

So Sorry about That !!!!

Thank You For that clarification. I did recall running the white box ammo when I first got the Barrel with No Issues. Just an Old guys Memory Laps.
