I found a place that sells Swedish Mausers that were converted for target use which I'm thinking of buying. The only thing I'm wondering is the sights are diopter sights for target shooting and I don't know much about them. Do you need to replace the front sight ring for each range you are shooting at? I imagine finding replacements may be hard and I'm worried about having a rifle with sights I can't use. image_1.jpg

Part of the beauty of aperture sights is that the size of the target black isn't as important as the overall sight picture.

My own Swedish Mauser wasn't born a target rifle, but I used it as one for years in NRA Highpower Rifle. Wonderful rifle!

No.
There are inserts available for pretty much any diameter front sight tunnel, in a wide variety of styles if you decide to switch out the one you get. Metric for metric, inch for inch.

I used to shoot with those type of sights many years ago and remember them being nice to use. Just as accurate as a scope. I've always loved the Swedish Mauser so when I read they made them into target rifles I thought I need one of those !

The Swedes approved and used a few different rear and front sights on their wonderful CG-63 target rifles and the M-6 military version of the same rifle.

I have a GF Diopter rear sight as hat is my personal favorite.

There are also Elit rear sights,
And Faldt rear sights
A few Busk rear sights.
Hellgvist sights which are pretty rare
The rare Norwegian Hauges sight
The Hooka and even a few Lyman 48Ms.
The Pramm
and finally the Popular Soderin.

There were also a few different front sight assemblies. Mine uses standard inserts. I have about 5 or 6 inserts of different types.

You need to go to the Gunboards forums and then the Swede military rifle collectors section.

Here are my sights. Note that you can use a hole for the front sight blade, or a regular blade or even a cross hair.
