So, I just purchased an M96 and plan to take it to the range this week for a test run. I know these rifles were originally sighted in for a battle distance of 300 meters, however, this particular rifle has a front blade on it marked as -1 which tells me it has been re-zeroed by a previous owner. Does anyone have an idea as to what distance a -1 front blade might be zeroed for? If I know where to begin it could save me some time and ammo finding this rifle's current zero.

Interesting. I wish that I could find my copy of "Neutrality Through Marksmanship" by Doug Bowser. I've been loaning it out to new swede owners and apparently it wasn't returned. It is a pretty thorough treatise on the M96 and other Swedish rifles. I don't remember reading anything about numbered blades however.

My M96 with the original blade shot high due to the 300M sighting distance. I purchased a high blade and filed it down to sight it in with my ammo. I have 2 different loads, one is dead on at 200 yds., the other at 100. I'd shoot it and see where it hits, not that involved of a process. I'm sure you can find different height blades on the net.

Well, it goes to show you learn something new every day :)

I found my original sight blade. It was marked "0" and measured 0.215" high. My replacement blade goes about 0.240"
