I have an Kel Tec Su2000. For those not familiar with them it has the feature to fold in half for storage or putting in a bug out bag. It folds with the stock meeting the upper half of the forend. What I am looking to do is have the ability to "swing" the red dot I have mounted to the side so as to be able to close the rifle as it was intended.
I hope I explained myself clearly in the description for suggestions.

Thanks

I don't know of any optics that use such a mount. I know some magnifiers for red dots will flip to the side which is the kind of mount you are looking for. You might be able to find one of those that matches the tube diameter of a small scope or red dot and give it a try but I am not sure that it would be good for an optic.

Edit: this is the type of mount I am talking about

but I suspect that there would be problems with shifting zero when used as a direct scope mount

Thanks but can't imagine how I would mount my red dot to it. Wish I could find one with a just plain rail mounted to it.

gilfo, I don't understand why you'd need a mount that flips when the Red Lion allows the entire forearm to flip. Maybe post a picture.

Does the Gen 2 SUB2000 have sufficient clearance for the rifle to fold up properly when these "45 degree offset" bases are attached to the factory rail?

Pachmayr used to make "Lo-Swing" scope mounts. They started in the 1960s, and were theoretically so you could swing the optic out of the way if it was damaged while hunting.

While I'm skeptical of the concept, I have one on my Arisaka sporter, because nobody else had a more conventional set of bases in stock, and I got it cheap in its original 40-odd-year-old packaging.

The Pachmayr looks like a hinge on one side and a Weaver dovetail on the other; it looks a bit odd but seems to be rigid enough.

If you look around you might find a Lo-Swing base that can be machined to fit your Kel-Tec.
