Hi. I'm considering ordering new barrels for my Glock 23 and 27 to allow them to shoot 9mm, but I wanna make sure I'm not sacrificing reliability or accuracy. Question for those of you who have done this... do your guns with the 9mm barrels show the same reliability and accuracy?

Why? The 23 is my favorite Glock.
I'd say yes to switching a 23 to .357 with a Glock barrel.
But, going to 9mm requires an aftermarket barrel that sometimes is as reliable as stock, and ejector, extractor, and mags.
I would just get a 26 or 19.

i say go for it. or get a reloading set up, and reload, and if you really want to save money reload lead and get you a ss barrel to allow you to shoot the lead.

If you convert from .40S&W to 9x19mm, you'll also need to get the 9x19mm Glock magazines. You will have reliability issues if you try and use the .40S&W Glock makes with 9x19mm ammo. The .40S&W Glock mags will work reliabily with .357SIG ammo.

I voted other. I have a 9mm conversion barrel for my G27 and use it with a G26 magazine. It works quite well;being reliable and accurate. It is a fine practice tool. That said, I always switch back to the .40 for carry. If I wanted a 9mm for carry I would get one built for that caliber. Now, if the breech face is the same on a G26 and G27 slide (I don't know, but my guess is the .40 is cut larger), I might rethink that (to include swapping out the extractor and ejector).

Yeah, if reliability is an issue, I wouldn't do it. Pre owned Glocks are relatively easy to find & at good prices -- I'd just pick up a G19

you can swap the barrels and other bits between the glocks you have mentioned. people, me, have been doing it for five years or more. just keep your ejectors separate. i am looking for G29 stock barrel to be able to shoot 10mm in my G30. and, if i can shoot 10mm in my G30 why couldn't i shoot .40? stay tuned for further adventures.--robby:banghead:

Why would you do that? The .40 S&W is a good caliber and it is one of the only calibers that you can buy ammo for at the current time. Good luck finding 9mm right now!

I have the storm lake conversion barrel for my G23 and have had zero problems with it using 9mm mags, and I have put 2000 plus rounds through it. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to do it. I think Storm Lake may OEM barrels for SIG here in the states.

My 40-9 conversion barrel is junk. A lot of failure to feed and extract issues. I'd just buy a 9mm Glock, that's the way they're meant to work...any type of adding an after market part will limit your weapon's reliance. But accuracy was good.

I just did this as an experiment with my Glock 22. I bought a factory 357 sig barrel and a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel. I also bought a 9mm extractor, ejector, and mags. I bought the barrel at Dillon in Scottsdale and they had the new Korean mags so I bought a 17 and 18 (33 rounder) to go with it.
I took them out and shot both new barrels on Wednesday. The 357 Sig was accurate and functioned without issue using Glock 22 mags.
The 9mm barrel worked perfect with the factory and Korean model 17 mags. The model 18 mag had numerous failures. HOWEVER, I did not switch out the ejector or extractor. I just changed out the barrel and magazine. I am not sure if the problem was with the mag or the 40 S&W configured gun shooting 9mm.
In the end I was happy with both barrels. If I was going to use the 9mm for defense I would switch out the extractor and ejector and then shoot a few hundred rounds through it to make sure it was good to go.
I did this as an experiment and have no intention of making it a permanent change.

I had a Lone Wolf 9mm barrel for my G23. I orginally bought it for range plinking because .40 Smith is kinda expensive and I don't reload for it, while I do reload the 9mm. I just bought the barrel and used the mags from my SO's G19.
I thought because of the .40 Smith extractor not having 100% engagement on the smaller 9mm cartridge rim it would have FTE's every so often....
Honestly I thought WRONG. Over a peroid of 2yrs (and a couple of thousand rounds) that G23 9mm conversion barrel NEVER malfunctioned.
I recommend you do it.
