I have a Remington 11-87 Super Magnum that I'd like to put a tactical (18.5") barrel on. Does anyone know if there's one made or where I might pick one up? Thanks.

They make 'em for the 11-87 Police guns, but I doubt you will find one so short for the Roman Candle guns. Likely you would have to have it made, cut down by someone who knew the gun well and could work out what it took to keep it running.

Good luck with the project- I'd settle for an 11-87P myself...

That's kind of what I thought too Lee. I use my Benelli S90 for my main tactical shotgun and my 11-87 for my knock around truck gun. I thought it would nice to have tactical barrel on it just in case I ever needed it right out the truck (I hate to leave my Benelli in there in case someone decides to break in). Maybe I'll just leave the 11-87 as is and let a nice 870 ride shotgun (get it....shotgun:D )

I'm not sure if these barrels will fit the 11-87 SuperMag (they should), but, here is some information from Remington:

Listed first will be the part #; then the description (finish / ga. / length); the choke (if any) and finally, the price.

#243880 1187 BBL 12/18 IC PL PK (FIXED IC .718 NO CHOKE TUBE) $130.00
#242346 1187 BBL 12/18 IC RS PK POLICE (FIXED IC .718 NO CHOKE TUBE) $164.00
#242348 1187 BBL 12/18.5 I/C PK FRONT SIGHT ONLY $164.00
#243881 1187 BBL 12/18.5 IC GR PK (FIXED IC .718 NO CHOKE TUBE) $164.00

1-800-243-9700, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm EST.

You might want to call Remington and see if these barrels will fit on the SuperMag. Granted, you will be limited to 3" shell with these.

I hope this has been some assistance to you.

Thanks Keith. I'll check but I don't believe any of those will fit.

I'm interested in getting a Remington 11-87 Premier Super Magnum shotgun because I want a nice, shiny, Blue & Wood shotgun...:D

-----PREVIOUS COMMENTS DELETED------

(Looks like you'll need to cut a SUPER MAGNUM bbl. down to size)
This could be an opportunity to make your own style of 'Tactical' bbl.
Short of buying the 11-87P, keep hunting for the bbl.

A used 870 wouldn't be a bad idea, but if you prefer the autoloader and want to stay with that format, persevere in your shopping.
TACTICAL is a fine word. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

In a:neener: tactical :neener: situation that calls for the close-in performance of a shotgun, you want maximum firepower and unquestioned reliability, shot after shot. That's why more and more departments are buying the Model 11-87™ Police. This law enforcement version of our famed Model 11-87 shotgun is all business.
Remington's gas- operated autoloading action has long set the standard for functional reliability and durability. Its low recoil means excellent control in high-rate-of-fire situations with heavy buckshot or rifled slug loads. For training and familiarization, this versatile shotgun also handles lighter loads without a hitch. The receiver, barrel, magazine extension, and bracket are coated with a Parkerized metal finish that minimizes reflections and provides moisture and abrasion resistance.

The Model 11-87 Police features a rugged synthetic stock and fore-end, durable parkerized metal finish, and a choice of bead, rifle or ghost ring sights.

For added durability, Model 11-87 Police shotguns come with high-strength polypropylene stocks and fore-ends. These rugged parts are impervious to moisture and will retain their strength under even the harshest environment. Their matte-black finish won't reflect light. To ensure the best grip and comfort, the stock has molded checkering and is finished with a 1", black solid recoil pad. The blaze orange magazine follower permits quick, safe inspection of the chamber and magazine.

When your law enforcement officers demand the maximum in firepower and reliability, there's simply no better choice than the Model 11-87 Police.

raydoctor. . . . .

I was cleaning out my desk and came across the manual to the 20 ga 11-87 I bought for my wife to use, and started reading it.
The manual is the same for all 11-87, 1100 and 11-87 SuperMagnum scatterguns, according to the title.
It says that on the SuperMagnum that you can only use barrels chambered for the 3-1/2" shell.
(Here is the blurb, verbatim) Red text per the manual - - ->

MODEL 11-87 SUPER MAGNUM™ BARREL REPLACEMENT:
Only model 11-87 12-gauge barrels having 3-1/2" chambers can be used on model 11-87 SuperMagnum receivers.
Never attempt to assemble any model 11-87 12-gauge barrel with a chamber length shorter than 3-1/2" to a receiver marked model 11-87 SuperMagnum.

So, I stand corrected on my first statement.

Thanks for the update Keith. I thought I'd read that somewhere before. I picked up another Benelli S90 today so I guess my problem is solved. Anybody shopping for an 11-87 Super Mag.......let me know!:D

I know this is an older thread, but anybody buy one of these barrels? I called Remington on this very issue today (but for installation on an 11-87 SPS 3"), and he noted that the finish is parkerized. I asked if that was the same as a matte finish (which is what I always see the finish referred to), and he said it was "close". Anybody know if this is the same finish as what is on a standard SPS synthetic?
