Tactical Beards?

Cosmo,
In this case weak roots are a tactical advantage! While he's still gaping at his paw full of bristles I'll be busy with a can opener and a can o' whupass! :D

Opponent grabs a handful of beard..

Let's see. Within arms length, at least one hand occupied with fooling around with my facial hair...that put's me at a one hand advantage (hands that would have been filled with various instruments long before he got within arms length).

Yeah, go ahead and try out that theory.

As for a beard being a possible handle for an opponent, you can look at it like the Klingons view long hair on a warrior: "Sure, it could be a liability, but I'm so brave and honorable and can kick your butt with a betleH! RAWR!" A Klingon wouldn't sound so lame, however.

Or you could look at it through the view of Alexander the Great. He made his men shave off facial hair because he knew it would be a rather good thing to grab onto, distracting the bearded one to the point that he would most likely be butchered before he could straighten himself back up. And, last I checked, Alexander didn't loose all that many battles.

Of course, a tactical beard would be pretty awesome! :)

To paraphrase one of the better quotes I saw on THR:

If your plan involves using your beard to stop the bleeding from head/neck wounds you need a new plan.

I hate to rain on your parade, but a beard of that size would make a nice little handle for the enemy to grab onto in a fight.

Remember, we are talking about the tactical beard here.

Taking a cue from Natural survival systems employed in the wild, it's tac-perfed TM at the 1" growth line to detatch and distract like a lizard's tail- giving you the time to disengage or counterattack while the agressor is focused on the decoy in his hand.

.

Actually, a real tactical beard would be dyed in tiger-stripe camouflage, using hair dye to create the effect. Perhaps a red tip for visual reference?

:D

I remember shaving on my honeymoon in Hawaii. Full beard to chinless to fu man choo with chops to just chops to clean shaven. If done in a tactical sense the enemy might have felt outnumbered. :D

Good for going tactical in an area where 95% of the male population wears beards, (3% are too young yet, and 2% wear burkhas) and handy for confusing that bear into thinking you're that hairy fellow he keeps seeing in the woods, but never has a good camera handy. (Note goatee on smiley)

Got ya' beat, Hardware!

Thanks to my Dad's side of the family, I've had to shave since about seventh grade. Except for my time in the Navy I've had a beard since high school. As for tactical applications, I must agree. I't better than a Leatherman for multiple uses. Napkin, standing up to hug daddy aid for my son, lip guidance system for the wife, food storage system, protects my pillow from drool when I sleep, barbeque sauce sampler and last but not least a coffee filter. You never know when you might get some grounds in your cup! :D

1911,
Well I only said I had a beard since I was 17. The first time I had to shave was at age 12. No fooling. Of course I only had to shave my upper lip then. That was either 6th or 7th grade. I was shaving my whole face several times a week by 8th grade and by high school, everyday. And no wussy disposable razors either. I started shaving with a safety razor. If your hands weren't steady you got a dueling scar. :what: ;)

I think we need pictures!!!
My ZZ Top impression......yeah the beards too short but I'm working on it ;)
