Remington SPS tactical in .223
VLS stock
ECW teardrop bolt handle (home installed with a grinder, a file, and a die)
currently wears a cheap Bushnell 6-24 scope, soon to be replaced with 10X SS
It shot right at MOA with 69gn sierra matchkings in the flimsy factory hogue stock. I haven't had a chance to take it out since I put it in the vls stock, but hopefully groups will improve. I love shooting this rifle.

My favorite "tactical" bolt gun - Marlin 982VS .22 Magnum. I enjoy picking off .223 cases at 100 yards.

Nice, hows that choate treat you?

Shawn Dodson, I've only shot one .22mag in my life, but I thought it was a really cool little rifle, nice shooting!

very impressive groups, you should submit that fly shot in taliv's bughole match! hahaha

...this thread is kind of having the opposite effect I wanted... only more anxious now...

Thanks kis2. I'm very pleased with my Savage. I actually won a tight group contest the first day out with the handloads. It was witnessed, measured and signed by the range owner; .093" center to center at 100. 3 rounds.

These three were just going to be sighters and to check velocities. That's why they are to the left.

I love it. As I said I have yet to shoot it with this stock, but I'm sure it will do fine. I have been looking for one of these for about a year now. I was waiting to see if I could get one used for less of a cost. I ended up seeing this at a gun show two weeks ago. I went for 1911 parts and left with this. I could not pass it up!!! He had it new listed for $179.99+tax. I ended up talking him into $175 out the door cash! This will be a great benchrest/prone shooter......But at 15 pounds I don't think I'll be taking it out hunting.......Well maybe for coyotes where I sit in one spot and call!!!

kis2 when do you pony up?????? Or is your Daisy still in the shop?

haha, still in the shop. I expect it back mid-july... here's a before shot for reference. Imagine a 2" longer, slimmer profile barrel wrapped up in dark earth. attached is a four shot, 600yd group on a 12" plate. That load was good til about 650ish, then the consistency started to drop off.

Hey kis2, is that a Savage

Blasphemy!! LOL. It looks to be some flavor of 700.

kis2, that was some fine shooting. I'd trade body parts to have access to a place like that to shoot. What load were you running to make those shots? Hornady's? Which stock is that?

"Blasphemy!! LOL."

that made me laugh pretty good! I try not to cling to brands, but I think I'm slowly developing into a 700 exclusive type of person. Chevy vs dodge I suppose.

Thanks for the compliment TonyAngel. I didn't have to trade any body parts, just several years to get a place like that to shoot... I'll check googleearth, but I think I have about 1400 yards there. Don't let the powerlines fool anyone, it's a very safe place to shoot.

That rifle began life as a 700P (so you were close Mav!). Barrel cut down to 24" (crown was jacked up on full length) and blued. Its a fully adjustable HS stock, pst025 I think, olive with black web. I compared it to the B&C equivalent, and the fit and finish were just way better for me on the HS.

The load for that particular group was a 168gr Amax over 43.2gr of varget.

600 is fun, but not worthy the recoil of a .308 IMO, hence my move to a longer barrel with a 1:10 twist. On that note, anyone want a parkerized .308 barrel? :D

thanks all, lets see some more!
