Tactical light?

Capture.JPG Somehow i came across this bargain I could not pass up.

I am not completely convinced one can get two 10,000 Lumen flashlights with batteries and chargers for $12, but they will be here by the end of the week and I will see what I get. I am often pleasantly surprised by the cheap Chinese stuff I have bought. Sometimes I get what I paid for though.

It ships from the US too, so i had to pay 99 cents sales tax.

I just bought a ATACTICAL A1S. It comes with one switch to turn on/off and another to select the brightness levels. It is also rechargeable. Very sturdy.
A number of youtube reviews suggest it is a good product. I seem to recall one of the reviews said they were made by/for Ollight as a low end brand for them to sell.

For $18 plus on Amazon for the ATACTICAL A1S, its a darn well made flashlight. I am sure there are better out there, but for 99% of my time, this is just what the doctor ordered.

i think the A1 is $20 and the A1S is $30.

I think both are a decent deal given as they both come with a battery and USB charger. The A1 is rated at 500 L and the A1S at 1000 L. They are both in my amazon cart as I consider whether to buy one or the other. However, I am not a huge fan of lights that have so may choices. I like simple. On/off. Especially for something that I might hang on a rifle.

Looking for the best tactical light flashlight brightest LED with a decent price and battery life speaking of Mag lite streamlight and any other what's your professional opinion on the best flashlight that's not too big and can be held when walking with your gun I do not want to attach a light to my pistol
This thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/low-light-tactics-techniques-and-procedures.788712/ - may be helpful to you. In it, Jeff White thoroughly explains tactical considerations, and I explain the various types of lights available. The goal was that between the two sets of posts one can make a more informed decision on what their tac light needs are, and then have the information to select a light that meets those needs.

I have looked for lights for EDC and I have some good recommendations from people I trust as well as having some favorites that I tried out. However, what I ended up carrying was a 8 dollar light from a gun show. This one, in fact: https://www.amazon.com/GT-LITE-Tact...nt-Energizer/dp/B00ITHIV34/ref=cm_cr-mr-title

Look, its not a great light. Better than a maglite from several years ago, probably. Compared to an olight or something it just doesn't hold a candle. But, it is fairly well constructed, small and bright easily carried. When I thought about my average day I realized that I would be massively overspending for what I need a light to do. I work in an office, and 99% of the time my drive consists of a straight shot to work and a straight shot home. My average lighting use is looking under my desk or in a supply closet or under the seats of my truck. Maybe, at night, to take a quick glance in the bushes as I walk my dog. I have some pretty good lights at home and even a pretty good light in my truck (in addition to a spotlight). I have very high quality lights on my nightstand pistol and AR. For my daily needs though, this light does what I need an EDC light to do. I would not trust it to use in a combat situation, but those days are 25 years in my past. The downsides? The switch is sort of a pain, the light quality is mediocre, and the clip bends more easily than I would like (it is easy to fix though). I also wish it just had a hi/lo setting and did not have the strobe feature, which I hate.

Again, I am not trying to dissuade someone from spending the money on a good light. There are many good reasons to do so. I am just saying that for me and my legitimate daily needs, this one does the trick. That is is less than the cost of lunch just sort of sweetens the deal.

Also, I would add that I forgot this part, so it seems disjointed, but here it is: My wife accidentally washed this light because she didn't think a flashlight would be in my pants, lol. The light made it through the washing and hasn't missed a beat. No water in the barrel, no shorts, battery was still good. I did have to dry out the lens a little, but that was a few weeks ago and it is working just like it did when it was new. I also want to say that I bought three of these as it was only $15.00 for three, and my wife and my buddies lights are also working just fine.

edit to add: I sort of hate autocorrect. I went through and corrected, but my rage at autocorrect my have led to some misses.

I've had good success with a coast hp-1. They can be had for around $10. Have been using it for about a year every day, no complaints. Even put it through the wash one day- everything still works fine. Runs on a single AA battery and you can adjust the beam.

Well, they showed up in the mail yesterday. Both of them work. The two rechargeable batteries work and the two Chargers work. I I'm pretty sure that they are not 10000 lumens. My uncalibrated eye suggests they might be 500 lumens. They're plenty bright for my purposes. I wish they just turned on and off but they're multimode. Three different brightnesses, SOS comma and strobe.

Timbo, my friend, you've inadvertently highlighted a very important distinction: There are tactical lights, and there are EDC lights. Certainly one can employ in an EDC light tactically if that's all they have on them, but dedicated tactical lights have features that make them much easier and more efficient to use tactically. True tactical lights are also more durable and robust than lower cost lights. Hence, the tactical light moniker.
