Talk me out of buying a sigma from CDNN.

Don't buy a Sigma....did you know that certain armored truck companies will not allow their guys to carry one because of their reputation for failure? Its true.

I shot one once that a guy I met at the range let me fire. I let him fire my Kahr MK40 in return. His was a .40. It worked fine for me but I only ran 10 rounds through it. The guy that owned it loved it. That being said, I have never heard one other nice thing about them. I would save the $250 and put it toward something nice.

Trade in value of a Sigma is around $100

Utter doo-doo. Just because you once saw someone get offered $100 for one doesn't mean that's the trade-in value. Blue book on the SW40VE that I had was $265 and I had many offers for it when I was shopping it around at the last gun show I went to (in late Janurary). I ended up trading the Sigma plus 50 bucks for a stainless Ruger Blackhawk in .357 mag (just what I was looking for!). The Blackhawk was in excellent condition and marked at $350.00.

A stainless Sigma .40 was my main carry gun for a while and it served me well. After I got used to it I could tear up the COM on torso targets with no problem and it never failed me...of course this was all after I had the initial warranty work done by S&W (who were very fast BTW). Having said that I would not recommend buying a Sigma. The trigger is pretty bad (although it did not take me long at all to get used to it and shoot it accurately) and they have had problems. There are other guns that you could purchase with a better reliability record and smoother function.

For the same money get the CZ-40B. I did and I LOVE it. If I had the means I'd get a 2nd. The 40B is worth the $480 bucks they origionally sold for. Mine's accurate and reliably. I now plan on my next 2 or 3 new handgun purchases to be various CZs.

I have shot my fathers Sigma 9mm. For some reason there was more felt recoil with the Sigma then any other 9mm I have ever shot. I can't imagine how bad the .40 must be.

Trust me on this go for the Steyr!! The Steyr guns are undervalued by about $250!!!

You will not be disapointed.

I PROMISE

Oh one more thing. I am plannig on buying the next 5-7 guns from CDNN. They are an excellant company to purchase from. If you call up ask for my man Traci. He is great. Tell him that Norm from WI told you to ask for him.

OK, so you all have talked me out of buying a sigma, for that matter I will never gaze upon the gun again without thinking "Smegma" in all its medical terminology glory.

I think I will spend a little more (Ok a lot more) and get a S&W 1911. I'm starting to think the price on full size 9's will come down with the ban comming up, so maybe I'll end up with a Styer in a few months.

Thanks again for all the replies.

I once got in a deal where I had 10 original Sigmas(for $2000), 6 were 9mm and 4 were 40's. I also had 50 mags , 30 9mm and 20 40s all high cap. I sold 6 for $300 (with 2 mags)thru a gun shop netting me $250 each , I hand picked 2 9mm's that didn't hiccup in 50 rounds out of the box and the same in 40 and kept the balance of mags. One of those two 9mms has proved reliable so I upgraded sights and it is stashed in my Motorhome, quickly available. One .40 was (is) a real winner, accurate and utterly reliable , It is stashed next to my safes where I might lean my hand if somebody forces me to open them-look out. The other two are for SHTF situations for neighbors and co defenders of the neighborhood. A nice gun in it's tupperware case that you don't mind throwing in an unlocked jeep ect.:D
