I love these guns to death. I have 2 identical Sig Pro's in .40, BUT I also have 2 identical 229's in .40. I have 4 handguns total and was wondering WHY do I have 4 guns in identical calibers? I was thinking of trading them off and maybe getting a Glock 36 for the upcomming summer heat.

Any comments? Is this crazy logic? What is your take on the G36?

:)

Is this crazy logic?

Uh, IMO yes. I wouldn't trade either of them for a Glock G-anything. I wouldn't have two identical pairs of pistols either though. I look at it this way, "always trade up". If you want a little summer gun go get a less expensive Kel Tec P-11 or a small 2" S&W revolver in .38 +p or .357 Mag.

Save your Sig's to trade for a nicer handgun. Just my opinion. ;)

Get a .357 barrel for one of the Pros and trade the other along with one of the 229's :D FWIW , my 2340 .357 has been my favorite pistol for a while - I shoot it much better than my 220 that I've had 7 years longer and at least on par with the 226 .

Never try to rationalize gun purchases , it takes all the fun out of it so if you want a Glock then get one ! I certainly don't need a couple 9mm's , a .40 . a .45 and a .357S but they all have a place in the safe , on my belt and most importantly , in my hand !

two's

I have two CZ-75's (one Transitional and one "B")

I have two Bulgarian Makarov's (one with Walnut grips and one with a Pearce grip).

I have several other autoloaders also...but I see nothing wrong with two's.

I've never traded away a gun I didn't wish I still had either.

On the other hand, if you have a hankering for a G36 (hope you get to test fire one first)...nothing wrong with trading out for something else if the budget calls for that strategy.

As to "caliber monogomy"...there's something to be said for it...I don't practice it...but every time I take on a new caliber...there's some extra expense involved.

Redundancy can be comforting or limiting...only you can decide. Regardless, think carefully before you give up on something you really enjoy...and make every effort to try before you buy if a trade is required.

Good luck and Safe shooting,

CZ52'

Trade the SigPros. Keep the 229s. But don't buy a Glock. What about a 220 or a 239 or a 228. Also get the 357 conversion barrel for the 229s if you don't already have it.

I strongly considered the P220.....I love that gun and they may be readily had for less than 500 all day in good condition. Thing is....when i draw the Sig Pro, it almost automatically goes on target. I don't even have to aim at less than 21 feet, but after a range session of 250 rounds or so...my wrist sure does get sore. Oh well....I think I should keep the Pro. The .45 has a gentler kick to it than the .40 does, but thats the nature of the beast.
Thanks

I have 7 9mm's and 4 of them are Sig's. Sigs are great guns.

The G36's I've delt with have been a little on the picky side. Which was damn surprising for a Glock. Stick with the G30 if you are seriously considering a subcompact 45.

As always YMMV.

Alduro,
It sounds like you already know the answer to your question. If the SIG Pro is like an extension of your body, then it will save your bacon in an emergency. Not having to think about what you need to do with your SD weapon is critical when the adrenaline is flowing and your heart is pounding.

If you really want to get something else, you could consider selling one of your Pros and one of your 229s, and then get the 357SIG barrel conversions for each. I sold my 239 9mm a while ago because I have a 239 in 357SIG that I really love. It was a good gun, and I trusted my life to it daily for about 1.5 years, but I don't really regret letting it go because I have another one. :)
