I was browsing in my local shop today and seen a H&K USP Compact 9mm on consignment, the price was $550. The thing that really caught my eye is that it looked new, I asked to see it so I could look it over, and you wouldn’t have guessed this was a used firearm. Even the bore/barrel looked perfect, it is a variant 9, and had tritium night sights. The person helping me put it back in the case, and I was going to go home and think about it.

Right before I was going to leave someone asked to see the same gun. I then pretended to look at some other guns while he was looking at the HK I was interested in. He gave it back to the dealer, the dealer put it back in the display. Then the other guy interested took out his cell phone, the guy was still looking at the gun through the display while on his cell phone. I then told the dealer that I wanted to buy the gun.

The dealer then took the gun back out of the case, and the guy that was on his cell phone said to the dealer “Im interested in that gun where are you taking it.” The dealer said “It just sold.” The guy on the cell phone said (in a very upset/stern voice) “Never Mind!” into the cell phone to whomever he was talking to , then immediately walked out of the shop.

In the end after tax and CA fees it cost 624.89.

It only came with the gun, and 1 magazine.

The only information I got about the gun is that it had less than 100 rounds through it.

What do you guys think about the price? Perhaps it was a lemon he’s trying to salvage his money on...? Maybe this was not that great of a price..? What do you all think?

The price on the pistol is OK, but you should have gotten two mags. The OTD price is a bit high, but it sounds like you got a real clean specimen, so I guess that's the 'price' of buying a pistol in CA. You could indulge your curiosity further at BunBroker, Aution Arms, CDNN, etc (See 'links' section in Library) I have USP/C'c in 9mm & .45 i like them both very well, they're great guns. Enjoy.

I did find the HK USP Compact 9mm at BudsGunShop.com for:673.68

However Shipping is +25 and living in California I must pay 25 CA fee's, plus my dealers fee of 10$

Also this model did not come with the night sights, and since I live in CA they couldnt ship me the 13 round magazines the firearm comes with. So I would have to invest 50$ more bucks for a couple of magazines.

I think I got a decent price........

If that guy wasnt looking at the same gun I was, I pry would have forgotten all about the gun.......im not sure if this would have been a good or bad thing.....

(Also it looks like this should have went into the Autoloader section of the forum, sorry about that)

Sounds like a good price to me.

I'd be interested in a review when you get to shoot it. My wife has a full-size and has been eyeing the compact model...

I will review it. Don't expect great detail, but I will post how it shoots and feels in my hands after I get it.

I just hope its not a lemon.

Also I am not sure how good HK's warranty is. Will they honor their warranty for a second owner, or just to the original owner?...

"A new Heckler & Koch firearm is warranted to the original retail purchaser only for the lifetime of the said original retail purchaser. This warranty applies only if the firearm was purchased from an Authorized Heckler & Koch Dealer"

So I answerd my own question :p

Same Thing...

Bought a "used" USP compact 9 from Gander Mtn. that looked unfired. Paid $600, came complete with case, mags, booklet, warranty card. When I took it apart and inspected everything I was further convinced it had not been fired. Found extra 10 round mags 11.99, (3), and 10.00(2), on the internet,$60.97 for 5...they run $14.99 in stores.

When I saw the code date I had to buy this gun...they were my initials.:D

Seems to me that you got a good deal on it. Similar to the price I paid for my USPf 9mm that had 400 rounds put through it. It was the best deal that I could find. I paid $500 and it came with a hard case, make and model specific foam soft case, 4 10-round mags, and a hogue slip-on grip. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine. One sweet gun!

I bought a used HK USP Compact 40 a few weeks ago for $500. So your price wasn't terrible.

I now wish that it was a .45 instead of a 9........
The .45 would have cost you more. When I bought my .45 it was $759.:( Wouldn't budge on the price. I had called all over for it, and this was the only one available. Stainless slide. I could have gotten 9s and even 40s quite a bit cheaper.

By no means was it a steal but I really doubt you got a lemon and with the night sights it was an ok deal. Used guns, especially quality ones like the HK, unless they have been horribly abused, had home kitchen table gunsmithig ineptly done or were something like an ex range rental gun with an astronomical round count, are almost always a very good way to save money over a new gun.

Well, be happy w/ the 9 - it is much cheaper to shoot. It costs me almost double to take my 1911 out to the range.
