Been having serious troubles with a few BIG recoiling rifles, 300gr @ 3150 and 150gr @ 3400, and the leupold std rear base wasn't working.
Being fair to Leupold products, have them on EVERYTHING I have EVER owned. And I like them.
I have dual dovetails on the over 300gr bullet size rifles and they work.
Anyways, needed rings/bases for 4 rifles using a pretty big scope, 18-40x56 w/30mm tube, those scopes pushing 3lbs - I think.
Ordered some Talley one piece rings, received them in the mail 3 days later, they fit perfect, look awesome, and are lightweight - exactly as described.
I'm not giving up on Leupold products yet, they offered to replace my rings with dual dovetail styles free of charge. Customer service is excellent at Leupold. That means a-lot!
However, Talley products had a person answer the phone 2nd ring (sweet!), tech answer my questions and get me the exact correct set-up I needed and get me the stuff in a few days. I LOVE THAT!!
Price is right too!!!
The Talley rings are simple in design, excellent engineering IMHO, and fit like they are supposed to.

There's a reason that Weatherby's rings are Talley rings.

I like Warnes, too, but I don't shoot 300 grains of anything at 3150 fps, at this point. Maybe someday I'll be lucky enough to have the need.:)

Fella's;

I got to know the Talley's when the operation was located in Wyoming. However, they've moved back to the Carolina's and more's the pity. In any case you won't do business with finer people.

When I got my .338 Winchester magnum, I gave in to expediency & obtained the only set of rings & bases in town I could find that fit the gun. I knew better, having had nothing but problems with Burris in the past, but damn, didn't I want to get the thing up & running! The Burris windage base couldn't hold the rear ring against the recoil, & accuracy never entered into the question.

Got on the phone to the folks at Talley & got exactly what fit, and held, in short order. True I paid some more money, but I regard that as nature's way of telling me that I let my wanna's overrun my good sense to begin with.

I've now put well over a hundred rounds through the gun with nary a problem from any part of the equation.

The Talley rings are nice, personally I've switched to a Weaver type base and rings for my .458 and lightweight .300 Winnie and had zero problems. Admittedly they aren't as pretty but they sure work.

Finally got to go shoot my SHR970 in 280 rem.
Just put the Talley rings on and gave it a Leupold boresight job - just centered the crosshairs, 3 clicks up and 4 over on a Sightron SII scope.
Bench ( backpack) @ 100meters, and was on the paper 1st shot, moved it 3" up and 4" right. Went on to shoot a easy MOA with remmy 150gr cheapies.
VERY HAPPY with the Talley lightweight one piece rings.

I've owned a couple sets but, As good as the talleys are the new deadnutz ringmounts are even better. These things would be the only scope mounts to survive after a nuclear holocaust.
