for hunting rifles, i really like talley lightweights. the ring is integral to the base.
dual dovetails are a strong, bulletproof system. among the best for heavy kickers that will likely see some abuse.
also have some standard leupold bases (windage adjust). the 338 win mag is the cut-off here, and even then, it might be too much gun for these bases. i really like being able to get my windage perfectly centered without touching the windage knob... this is how you get the same l-r point of impact at all yardages, instead of compromising. but, by design, they won't stand up to the hardest kickers.
warne makes a ring that is hell for stout, and is my ring of choice on varminters... but they are very heavy. these are a weaver-style.
weavers work well for common deer calibers. but, i tend to stay away from them because i feel there are better mousetraps.
burris signature rings... i hate these rings. they are unattractive, very hard to get the gaps between the ring halves centered, and tend to slip. i still have 'em, but they have been banished from my gun room and spend their time languishing in their box in the garage, where they will never see the light of day on one of my guns again.
that covers all the mounting systems on my rifles... there are variations on a theme, but these are what i know.
