Was out at the range recently and I noticed odd feeding problem with just Tula steel cased ammo v. WWB. When firing the Tula steel cased ammo when I hit the slide release after inserting a fresh magazine, it would consistently jam, with the fresh round getting stuck exiting the magazine. If I pulled back the slide instead of using the magazine release, it would load fine. The brass WWB exhibited no issues.

I've checked random rounds of the Tula and they all seem to be dimensionally okay.

Any one know what is going on with that?

The only gun that I owned that would feed it reliably was a Glock 21. Pretty much ever 1911 that I have run it through choked on it except my Springfield. That said, I have only fired about 15 rounds of Tula through it, and they were spread out among 3 magazines with other manufacturers ammo. The Glock would eat boxes of the steel cased stuff without a hiccup.

.223 and 9mm work fine in my Ar and all of my 9mm, but my 1911s just didn't like it much at all.

Fiv3r, I am curious for you does it feed fine outside of dropping the slide via the slide release?

Tula may not be high quality, but for cheap practice ammo it still shoots better than me and I cant recall a single failure in my Springfield 1911. I dont shoot a ton of it, but probably have put several hundred rounds of it through the 1911.

Honestly, I dunno. But I think you might be onto something there. It was usually when I would drop the slide using the release.

I don't have any more of it left to try. The offending 1911s are gone. I only have my Springfield left, and it's never given me any issues in the handful of Tula that has been through it. When .45 became tough to find during the drought, I just switched to better brands over the Tula stuff when I could find it.

This is a common problem. The steel cases are rougher, so there is more friction on the magazine lips.

You either need a stronger recoil spring or give the slide a running start by releasing it from the rear of it's run. Using the slide release doesn't allow the slide to accelerate before striking the cartridge. It's just the cost of cheaper ammo.

Ditto here. The stuff is accurate in my Gen4 G-21 and the price is right, but the indoor ranges around here prohibit steel cased ammo anyway.

I've had good results running Tula in my Tristar T120. Granted, it's only been ~200 rounds of it, but I've got no complaints. No hang ups at all, and with it being $10.99 a box at Academy around here, it's more than resonable plinking ammo.

hey the cases reload pretty nicely for me
and they feed like water with a 200gr swc in them!
ive never shot any factory ones
