Well before even getting a 100 shots through my taurus 1911 the tip of the ejector broke off... It was working perfectlt fine before the incident. Will any 1911 80 series ejector work? or is the one for the taurus proprietary?
I would definitely try Taurus and get an extractor from them.
At 1k rounds my PT1911 had issues with the extractor from not being tensioned correctly and it got beaten up and peened and needed replaced.
I went an bought a nice Wilson Combat HD series 80 extractor and i had issues that the new extractor wouldn't retain the firing pin safety plunger in its hole.
It could be an isolated issue but ive heard of others have the same issues also. You can make the Wilson part fit but not like most people would expect to do so. You have to file the retaining slot in a way it sits deeper in the whole and will then contact the plunger and retain it.
But when you do that you have to put a shim in the extractors hole forward of firing pin retainer to keep it in place. It works and take alot of time to go this route.
So this is why i suggest trying to get a Taurus part so you dont have extensive fitting and filing to get it right.
BTW the issue is the FP plunger hole is just slightly forward than where most 1911 spec parts are made to fit.
