Has anyone had any experience with the new taurus 1911 frame pistols?

If so, how did it perform?

Are parts interchangeable with other 1911's?

Will it take my shooting star mags?

1) Unless somebody got their hands on a pre-official-production model, then no.

2) see 1

3) Unknown. Probably at least some of the parts out there will work. The pics I have seen do make me wonder about just how much fitting might be required though; some parts of the frame look too thick for some accessories (holsters) to work well without special orders.

4) It would greatly surprise me if standard 1911 mags didn't work. However, individual 1911s have their own preferences for magazines- of a given model, one may work well with a certain mag, others might not.

Shooting Times or G&A had an article on them a month or so ago, and they said that they are built to original specs. They also produce all of their own parts in-house, and nothing is outsourced. There is the usual MIM, but since they won't be buying parts from the lowest bidder, and have let people know that they build 100% of the gun themselves, they can't place the blame anywhere else if a part fails. Could be a good thing, but only time will tell.

This new 1911 should prove to be an interesting addition to the market. They claim that most parts will interchange. They are also in-house produced forged frames.
