Yup.
Got the 4" Tracker in blued about a year ago. Had to send it back for repair because the cylinder would bind up when she heated up after twenty or so rounds. According to the shop where I bought it, that was a fairly common problem they are seeing with them.

Mine is very accurate with either mild and full-house 240 gn round nose loads. The grip design and ported barrel make it quite controlable, but I advise a strong grip! A wimpy grip suitable for a .38 will make you wish you'd grabbed on tight! :what:

Would I buy it again knowing what I know now? I really don't know....:scrutiny:

I have a 4 inch model 44 and it is the most accurate, controllable .44 Maggie I ever owned. It has worked just fine so far for me. One odd thing about this gun is that there is NO rifling from the ports to the end of the barrel. Under the ports it is made like an expansion chamber of some sort, and at the crown it appears to squeeze back down again. Weird, but effective. It really works, as it does not seem to kick near as bad as a Super Blackhawk or even a Redhawk, which are both heavier guns.

I have the Raging Bull and a 6.5" M44. Both have eaten everything I have ever put through them. I have shot specials, loaded down mags, standard factory mags and some HOT loads I loaded up for my 94 trapper. Very controlable and very accurate. Good revolvers.

I was really curious as to how they handled, recoil wise. Especially the Tracker. I know a ported gun (at least my ported Taurus 606 .357) had very little muzzle flip. It came pretty much strait back.

It will be a "carried a lot, shot a little" gun while hunting and general woods bumming. That's why i was particularly interested in the Tracker.

I have a blued 444 with the 8.375 barrel. Awesome revolver, blue was amazing, fit was great, and the trigger was almost perfect in SA and DA. I also have a tracker .357 which was also very nice and if you plan on carrying it mostly the smaller frame of the tracker would be alot lighter than the large framed RB. My tracker is the 6.5" and it is very pleasent to shoot even with fairly hot loads

What Poper said but mine when back for light primer strikes.
It works great now but I may not purchase another Taurus.
Had the same thing with the "Judge".

I traded for a 5" Raging Bull in 480 caliber and it has the expansion chamber where the ports are. The rifeling ends at the start of the porting.

On my model 455, 45acp the rifeling goes out all the way through the porting to the end of the barrel.

I do not have those particular ones but a .357 mag (66SS6 i think) that I enjoy pretty much. It is not exceptionally accurate. The trigger is pretty good and quite sensitive. Got it used so not sure what a 'stock' one is. I liked it for a lighter carry one when I am out hiking/backpacking in the mountains and for some reason don't bring something bigger along. Even though it is a Taurus and not a famed S&W revolver, I still like it very much.

I have the Ragin Bull with the 6" barrell and I love it. Ive probablyut 500 rounds through it and never had a misfire or anything else go wrong. The bull is good if your looking for a hand cannon that will say hey, here I am. Wanna come and play? I would highly recomend it to anyone.

I have an M44 6.5", and have been very happy with it. I changed the long skinny factory grips over to hogue monoblocks ala S&W, polished the action contact surfaces, and put in a wolff spring kit, it has close to a perfect trigger now. I have never had any problems of any type, and it is always been quite accurate, and was a good bargain. The expansion chamber and porting seem to work best with hotter loads, and this revolver handles just about any SAAMI spec load with ease, the only downside is fairly rough machining marks internally and in the expansion chamber (doesn't affect function, and not normally visible), and a gritty NIB trigger, both can be corrected with a polishing stone, dryfiring practice and time. Some advantages over S&W (which I have loved until their more recent models) are a better designed internal lock, longer firing pin (allows lighter hammer springs) the finish on some models and of course the cost, now if they could only ditch the giant cheesy banners they put on the side of most of their models they would be near perfect.

Considering the 44 mag --I have all 3.

Raging bull frame is overly large and heavy, the grip is too big.

Tracker is great for a packing gun but only 5 shots--gripper grips suck.

Model 44 is the best Taurus 44 model, just the right size and a 6 shooter.

Raging bull is very large but you can feed it just about any brand of .44mag from store bought WWB crap to Garrett's hottest Hammerhead loads and the only thing the gun will do is launch them where you aim. Great gun but yes, large and heavy.

As said previously, the M44 either in blue, stainless or now they have a nickel finish(?) is just the right size. Its basically a S&W Model 29. Nice gun, feels good, shoots well and the porting is great. Recoil is just a push straight back. No muzzle flip for me.

Taurus .44

I have the 4" ss Tracker, shoots great little recoil for the size and weight. I consider it a great value. Only problem was when shooting corbon 305 gr loads, the cylinder would lock up, to much flex in the yoke, but all things considering the gun wasn't designed for that type of load.

i have got a taurus .44 magnum tracker and i have to say WOW what a great gun it shoots perfect just like my other taurus handguns (.357 tracker .38special ultralite and pt111 9mm)i have to say value for money and excellent quality, i would carry my taurus over a s&w anyday!!!!
here are pics and vids links!!!:):what:

I've got the 44 mag Titanium Taurus. (in spite of all the warnings) Its very accurate, 44spl is a breeze and 44mag is tolerable. I like it, glad I bought it, not trading it anytime soon. I also have a Taurus rifle. Both have performed well and are fine values in my opinion.

only problem with the 4" M44 is that it only uses 2 1/2 of barrel. So while sight radius and overall size are the same as a 4", velocities will be around the same as a snubby. The 6 1/2" M44 develops near identical velocity to a 5" 629. The porting works well, it reduces flip and overall recoil, more so with hot loads that have enough pressure when the bullet leaves the rifling to really pump some fire through the ports, but it comes at the expense of about 100fps velocity compared to a non-ported model, and can be more or less than that depending on load.
