I just bought a Taurus 608 at the Houston gunshow this afternoon. I rushed out to go try it out before the sun went down only to find that it is shooting low. Real low. At 7 yards it is blowing the bottoms off my targets. It was still grouping great, just at the bottom way outside of any of the rings.
I figure, no big deal, adjustable sights. Couldn't find anything in my truck to adjust the sights with, so I packed it up and headed home. Problem is the rear sight is already adjusted already bottomed out...
Basically, some QA (laugh) guy at Taurus was sighting in my gun, found that he bottomed out the adj. sights and was still hitting low, and shipped it off anyways. I used to be a Taurus defender, but now I don't know.
Can anybody think of anything I could try other then sending it off to the factory? I thought I might could file down the front sight post, but I don't know how much I would need to do in order to bring it back in line and I don't want to void the warranty.
It wasn't entirely negative, though. The trigger is quite nice (head and shoulders above my gp100) the porting helps a lot with the recoil, it locks up so tight you could swear the cylinder was welded to the frame, and 8 shots of .357 magnum is a thing of beauty. Just kind of wishing I would have paid the extra $100 or so for the s&w 686 plus sitting next to it...
