I got to take my new Taurus 85 Ti to the range today, and was pleasantly suprised. I have shot two of my friends regular model 85 numerous times. With satndard pressure rounds I have no problems with their revolvers, but once you start shooting +p rounds they become quite a handfull. Well I was suprised when I shot my Ti today to find that it had less recoil then the standard 85's. I figure this has to do with the ports that Taurus installed on the gun. I was a bit worried after reading numerous reports of Ti models locking up after extensive shooting, but I had no problems at all. I shot about 150rnds through it today. Most of it was american eagle FMJ range ammo, but I also shot about 40 rnds of Federal Hydra-Shock 129grn +p ammp through it. Now I just have to work at getting better with the long double action trigger pull. I think this gun is definatley a keeper.

You can often find the same thing riding on my ankle loaded with +p Gold Dot.

A full cylinder of those with the hardwood grips and you definitely know that it's purpose in life is to be a lightweight, easy to carry defensive tool, not to be a recreational toy.

I recently bought my girlfriend an 85 Ultra-Lite. Even with standard pressure rounds, (Win 158gr ball) she hated the grips. I replaced them with Pachmayr Compacs. Now she loves to shoot it. Haven't tried it with +P rounds yet, but we will this weekend.
For the price it's a nice little snubbie.

Hey, what make of speed loader, if any, do you use? I tried an H&K made for the Mod 85 and it was a pain in the a**. It was too large and would not clear the grips, even the stock ones.

Size-wise, a speedloader is almost as bulky as carrying another Ti-85.

I'm looking to pick up some Bianci Speed Strips. (think that's the name)

I use the Maxfire speedloaders on my little Mod 85, just hook the loop on the thumb of your left hand, hold the loader in the palm of your hand and push away from gun. Works real slick with a little practice.

Speed loaders are fairly bulky. I'm reasonably certain that at least one Speed Strip could be attached to an ankle holster without affecting it's comfort or concealability.

I also use Bianchi speed strips. They are much handier than speed loaders (although slower). I usually carry 2 of them with 6 rounds on them of Federal Hydrashock 129gr +p's. You never know when you will need those extra two rounds.

Two thumbs up!

I was suprised at how pleasant and accurate the 85 titanium is to shoot. I put lazergrips on mine and havn't tried it with anything else.
I think that the extra length which allows a grip surface for the little finger makes a big difference in recoil control. Of course the porting helps too.
Shooting .38spl. is downright fun and the .38+p Gold Dots are totally managable.
I've got about 300 .38 and 100 .38+p through mine without any problems. The trigger is a little heavy but very smooth. Not something I'll change on a carry gun.
And this is the one I carry. With a Kel-Tek P-3AT for backup.
If I were to do it over, the only change would be to get the same gun in DAO. The hammer is just a hinderance on a ccw gun that I'm only going to shoot in DA mode anyway. Live and learn
Kim:cool:
PS. I practice point shooting a lot with snap caps and the lazer grip.
Try it, you'll like it!
Batteries are a lot cheaper than bullets. No holes in the wall and the bad guys on TV are all dead. :D :D :D

I love my 85Ti even though its baby blue and NOT very intimidating looking. :).

I too carry speed strips. Speed loaders are faster but much too fat. If I’m gonna carry that much bulk, I carry more pistol.
