I bought a PT709SS at the local gun shop last month; paid too much but I like having a local gun shop. But the gun shot low (all groups 4-7 inches low at 20 ft) even with the rear sight full up. A laser bore-sighter convinced me that the gun was actually the problem so I called Taurus customer service. They emailed me a FedEx label within minutes and I sent the gun to Taurus later that day. I received the gun back exactly one week later. They even called the day before to make sure someone would be home to sign for it. I still need to test it on the range but the laser bore-sighter looks good now. The returned gun included a target with an impressive group (range not specified) so I expect it will shoot well now. The paperwork with the returned gun only said "replaced" so I don't know exactly what was done; the s/n on the slide was same as before but the front sight was visibly shorter and there was no s/n on the barrel (unlike original barrel). IMO, this is excellent service.

I hope I have as good and easy of an experience as you Scott. Taurus CS has been closed since the holiday, so tomorrow(Monday) I have to call and get a Miami vacation ticket for my PT709.
I've had it since March as my EDC and the pistol has been fine, when suddenly it has started to act up.

Taurus has been known for great CS since they started doing business in this country...

I've worn out a PT92 at least twice since buying it new in the mid 80's. Taurus has replaced every broken or worn part without question. They have in the past mailed parts to me with just a phone call.

Maybe there's a reason Brazil's economy is booming while most of the rest of the world is sucking wind...

Scott9mm, I experienced the same result with Taurus when the trigger on my .40 Millenium failed during breakin; it was sent back and the trigger was replaced right away.

One can criticize Taurus however as many posts here show problems can occur with any make to include high end weapons. These problems usually occur during the breakin period. Since my .40 was fixed I've fired 400+ rounds and it is functioning flawlessly.

Any weapon, regardless how high end it is should be broken in through a strict firing trial with a minimum of 300 rounds. I have seen reports here of Glocks failing, Sigs and others, so problems can occur, no handgun is perfect and I consider the breakin period critical in order to qualify the handgun as safe and most importantly, reliable.

Another thing about handguns-I think serious shooters take time selecting their handgun and if budget is an issue more research is done to get the best handgun for the price. Taurus has greatly improved workmanship, quality and service over the years.

I like the guns in general and own an alloy gun they only made for a year, it weighs 11.5 ozs, but a few weeks a go we took a ride to the show, and an old marine buddy and I checked out a half dozen 357's to get the tightest one. Well it was tight alright, he called me 5 minutes after we got back and told me once he loaded it, he couldn't open it. He brought it over and I tried some 38's in it just to see. It cut right into the frame in back of the cylinder. We drove back the next day and they gave him another new one. I think someone dropped it and bent the ejection rod that threw it off just enough to cause the cylinder to hit. But I had to laugh, we sure got the tightest one he had. But the price was $349 for a stainless snubbie 357, that will probably never have another issue, "we hope".

They have been doing business in this country for a long time now and the CS/QC has been spotty at best. It's a common misconception that Taurus revolvers are/were sent to Brazil for repairs. Federal law prohibits that, they have always been repaired in the states.

It's nice to get good quality affordable product and good customer support/service.

I've returned my PT92 twice for refurbishing/spring replacements over the years. They have always done a superb job, and friendly as well.

Since then, I've purchased replacement parts from Numrich, just so I don't have to be without my favorite handgun. (Over 20,000 rounds and counting. The DA return spring seems to go about 8000 or so, so I replace them all at the same time.)

If they pay the shipping both ways and fix it in any reasonable time frame that is way better than most!

I've generally had very good luck with Taurus pistols. Never had one break, but the only one that has seen multiple thousands of rounds in my PT-92 which I actually prefer over my Italian import Beretta 92 (although the Beretta does look better).
