Little help here please...

My Mom (83 and still goes to the range) has what appears to be a circa 1990 5 shot, stainless Taurus snubbie. Pistol shoots good and in pretty nice shape. 2 questions:

1. +P ok?

2. Does this pistol have the lifetime warranty?

Thanks guys,

Gunner

#1 yes, leastways off the self generic 38+P.. pricey boutique ammo may vary
#2 dunno, but 'probably' is a guess
and 1990 era T-82s were generally thought to be pretty decent revolvers by many

kudos to mom !

but she could burn generic 38 sp forever, I do believe, on range days
if ever she needs that warranty , just buy her another gun, whatever she likes, any price
good Moms are a lot harder to come by than good guns are

Yes you are right (old fool) Mom is a huge Atlanta Braves fan, and doubley so for OKC Thunder. She goes to the range at least twice a month.

Love my mother, and would hate to be the fool that thought she was a soft target to hit. For sure there would be a surprize waiting.

Thanks for the input/

Okiegunner, don't know if this applies to you, but some people want to know if their snubbies will handle +p because they'd like to shoot hollow points, and most (if not all) of the hollow point ammo sold at WalMart or larger sporting goods stores is in +p. If that's you're situation, Able's Ammo online sells standard (NON +p) .38 ammo with hollow points.

I've never had a definitive answer as to whether my Rossi M88 was designed to handle +p or not. I've just gone along with the generally accepted notion that it's probably okay to shoot +p out of it now and then. The rest of the time I use standard ammo. If I ever had second thoughts, I'd order the stuff from Able's.

I've never had a definitive answer as to whether my Rossi M88 was designed to handle +p or not.

They were not +P rated, the old interarms ones, but I shot quite a bit of 5.0 Unique/158SWC handloads in both of mine without a problem, a load which borders on +P. I used to carry +P, but didn't fire many, in a M88. This does not apply to the OP, though, just to give you some info on Rossis.

I pretty much blanket trust any "90s" era 38 revolver with wallyworld whitebox +P
including my Interarms era Rossi 851, just 38 sp stamped,
and would not hesitate to shoot 357 JHP whitebox out of that old SP101 from-before they ever started stamping 357 on 'em (if found 357 that would chamber in cylinder)

but hot handloads or boutique, best know your load
off-shelf generic 38+P... just not that all that hot

Thanks guys. You know...short barrell and all. Mom at 10-15 feet. I would not want to get in the way!!!

I'm glad she still gets out of the house and enjoys shooting

Thanks

Gunner

WAY TO GO MOM!!!

LOVE IT!!!

For Christmas or her birthday I might give her an old Model 10.

The extra weight will reduce recoil and be easier on her wrists. +P no problem.

Thank you much

Just wanted to message you back. Thank you for your sentiments. Yes, I love my Mother, and yes it is kinda cool she likes to do some shooting.

As long as she is awake and watching her soaps...I really do pity the idiot that tries to break in to her home.

She'll do a BANG, BANG up job on 'em.

Excellent thread and old gal. Remarkable.

Older seniors are supposed to be easy targets according to criminals.

Not so in this day and age.
