I like my PT111 so much that I picked up a stainless PT145 non-Pro at the gun show a couple of weekends ago for a very good price.
Trigger is much lighter and smoother than on my PT111 which in my example is good enough that I shoot the PT111 better than I do my Glock 17 despite the significantly shorter sight radius.
Put a couple of boxes of Wolf and Armscor FMJ thru it with zero failures out of the box. Seemed to shoot a bit smaller groups than the PT111 or was it just the bigger holes?
My only complaint is is like my PT945 it won't reliably feed my 200 gr Lead H&G 68 type SWC reloads. No problems with a mag full of Hydrashoks.
My PT111 came with night sights, since the PT145 sights were the same height and width and they are simpley screwed on, I swapped sights before I went to the range as I'd never carry a 9mm give I've a Kahr PM40. I'll use the PT145 on those ocassions I know I'll have to leave my piece in the car while I go inside and not risk my top three carry guns (Kimber Ultra Carry with CTC lasergrips, S&W SC360 Scandium .357 also with CTC lasergrips, or Kahr PM40) to theives.
I like having a small 10+1 45ACP that is perhaps a tad smaller, but a bit thicker than the Kimber UC that didn't cost an arm and a leg and shoots almost as well.
Time will tell how the PT145 holds up, but seems like a great llittle gun for $310.
I've had nothing but good experience with Taurus guns over the years and have ended up with more in my safe than I'd ever planned. But he only one that has gone thousands of rounds is my PT99, never a problem but take my endorsement with a grain of salt if you plan on heavy use. My wife choose it (PT99) to learn on after trying my PT111, FM HiPower and Glock 17 based on weight, recoil, and the groups she shot off a rest. Now that I got her to try my Kimber TLE II she's starting to think the 1911 might be a better choice for her CHL qualifer.
