While trying to disassemble a Taurus PT140 Millennium Pro (.40S&W) the slide seized up and does not want to go forward or backwards.
Sprayed some lube in all openings and now I can move it fwd about 1/16th”.
Magazine and disassembly latch/pin are out, trigger is pulled and stuck in the most rearward position.
Some youtube experts pull the trigger then move the slide forward and off, some bring the slide forward first before the trigger is pulled.

On another note when the magazine is fully loaded with 10 rounds the follower rattles, not with 9 rounds or less only 10?

Gun has been 100% reliable when firing, any suggestions are appreciated.

This happens when you try to forcefully remove the slide with the firing pin still on the sear (or let the slide close freely with the disassembly pin removed and the trigger pulled.) Point the gun muzzle down and use your other hand to give the barrel a stout blow through the top of the ejection port, as if you are trying to smash the barrel into the trigger guard. It should knock the slide back and reset the trigger. Pull and hold the trigger, then move the slide forward and off the frame.

Either way you described works, but the slide HAS to be closed first. Pulling the trigger with the slide locked back doesn't release the sear.

The rattle probably isn't the follower but rather a round without tension on it. Sometimes holding the loaded mag in a fist and bumping the bottom against your other hand will rearrange the rounds to stop the rattling, sometimes not, it really depends on the individual magazine. I really like this series of pistols but the magazines aren't exactly the highest quality things I've ever seen. If I set my magazines next to each other I can visually see differences in the dimensions. One of mine lets a round rattle while the other two do not, and another mag rattles in the magazine well while the others don't. All three function perfectly, though.

Thanks for the reply, I tried to do that and the odd thing is that I do not need to use any force to push down on the barrel.
I can push it down easily and it will pop back if I pull the trigger???
The slide does not move at all not forward or back.
Initially I had pulled the trigger and kept it back as I tried to push the slide forward. This was always somewhat tricky but worked until this time...
I agree with you that the PT140 is a great little gun, can't think of another .40 that compact and ergonomical.
Hopefully I did not break anything.

So the trigger has reset itself at this point?

Thefumegator, good point, not something I had thought of.

No, the trigger has not reset.
If I push down on the barrel it will go back another 1mm and stay back.

The lock is flush and apparently also seized as I can not turn the key cc or ccw.

The slide will move forward about 1mm and rearward about 1/10 mm.

? ? ?

The lock not moving isn't surprising. It can only be engaged when the slide is fully in battery, so if it's not turning that isn't a bad thing.

Please try what I described before, giving the barrel a good hit while the muzzle is down. And I do mean a hit, don't press or push it, give it a hard strike. Press the slide as far forward as it will willingly go and then give the barrel hood a good smack. I think your striker tab is jammed into the sear and trigger bar (the fact that the trigger is stuck to the rear is good evidence of this) and you need to move it fast/forcefully enough to get it off.

It worked!

It took a nice whack of my Lyman Gunsmith hammer (the synthetic side) to do it.
Thanks a million.
Looks like I need to pull the trigger first, the relase the trigger, push the slide forward, pull the trigger again and hold it back this time and then the slide will come off.
Wonder if this problem occured since the gun is still new and will not happen again?

Thanks again.
