Just read that Taurus is discontinuing their Raging bulls in 500 Smith. Wonder why???????????????

They're nuts. That's why. I've seen exacly one in the flesh. Sold almost immediately. I asked a local Taurus stocking dealer to get one for me and he told me he had many inquiries and simply couldn't get his hands on one, much less the half dozen or so he wanted to order. There's been so many that actually appeared to be doing rather well and now they're gone. They had a nice little .44 magnum Tracker snubbie and that's gone. Talked to a dealer that usually has 2 or 3 each show and he told me he sells every one he gets and quickly too. The way I figure it, they should leave it out there for a year or so after introduction just to see how it does. It's doing to take a while for a new model to get around.

From what I'm told they had a problem with their cylinder. It was a different length and some ammo wouldn't fit. Also, they were having out-of-time problems with it too. I don't own one so I can't say it's true but I did read it. (and no, not on a forum, in a gun magazine)

I don't see this any where on their website. They still show as being offered as of today. There is no press release or anything posted up. Where did you see this info?

Buds still has the S&W 500 8 3/8" barrel for $833 shipped.

Grab them while you can.

I sware that did not say discontinued when I looked previously time to have the eyes checked LOL. So you think people should grab them why? I understand what everyone is saying and as much as I like taurus I do not think it will be a collectors item. Especially with all the taurus bashers in the world. It amazes me how many there are. Was talking to a guy the other day and simply because of what he read on the internet he swore to never own a taurus but he considers himself to be a serious gun nut owning over 60 weapons. It probably was not the right thing to do but I was a smart azz and asked the guy why could you educate me on what I should look for. He told me he has never owned one and never will because of all the bad press on the internet. He told me to just google taurus junk weapons and I will get all the info I need. I then asked so based off the internet you have made up your mind and he happily replied yeap no way not for me. I started to tell him well if your only looking for bad press that is all you will find but I figured it was a waste of time. :banghead:

Looks like Taurus is making some hard decisions on their product line. They must not sell very well or there are consistant returns and problems with them. Takes any profit right out of a handgun with warranty returns.

When I mean grab them, I mean S&W's. Since there is so few manufacturers that have pistols in 500(only 2 now), I see the prices going up. If one was ever on the fence about buying one, I would do it now before the word is out on Taurus having discontinued that model.

I'm glad I got mine before they were discontinued. Not long after they stopped production I would see an abundance offered on online gun auction sites. In the past several months I rarely ever see one of the 10" barreled models offered and the 4" and the 2 1/2" models are seemingly only a little more common.

Looks like they slimmed down their .45 1911's too but expanded with a .38 and hi-cam 1911.
