Gosh, we've got some amazingly experienced and knowledgeable folks hereabout, saying they've seen lots of Berettas and Smiths and Glock fail in more ways than one (sadly, in the thread, none yet offer forth examples or documentation). I must be fairly clueless, because I've been around firearms for many, many years, and just haven't seen more'n a few modern handguns "fail." Not talking the occasional malfunction, but rather, catastrophic failures such as major parts breakage, ka-booms, repeated FTF/FTE/FTRB on the same string of fire, guns getting locked up (squibs) and otherwise rendered inoperational, etc.
Guess it's the reason I approach any thread even mentioning Taurus products with trepidation. I've owned several excellent Taurus handguns (all purchased before the internet informed me Taurus bad), a couple not so great, but not awful. Geez, for many years I was blissfully unaware and loved my Taurus PT-92, PT-99, M-82, M-85, M-94. Been to Brazil, great food, beautiful women, to be honest, beaches didn't live up to expectations. But I know that Taurus sells an incredible amount of handguns, and a lot of my officers (before I retired) bought them because they didn't want to pay the higher prices for Glocks and SIGs, etc., but used them for off-duty carry and home defense. I don't think I heard anything negative about the Taurus handguns -- except on the internet.
